Good news! I'm hoping VP is next, but I'm not counting on it.

When was the last time CET offered S17 for $25?

This is VERY encouraging, they may see that they cannot compete for BJ business with such shitty rules except at the lowest limits. It has been unusual for CET to alter any of their games in the players favor, ever.

The HL rooms at CP, Paris, and PH do offer surrender but at $100 min.

Indeed this is good news for the HL players. Now if a casino operator had the foresight to get rid of 6:5 on their lower limit tables that would be something to get excited about. I would wager a lot of money that the first casino(s) to nix 6:5 coupled with a marketing blitz will increase their BJ revenues to a point where other casinos will take notice.

The pendulum swings both ways and sooner or later someone will be bold enough to realize a competitive advantage over their competition.

CET is in dire financial straights and has among the worst low limit BJ games in all of Las Vegas. They would be a prime candidate for the buzz that would be generated by returning to 3:2 for the low limit games.

To be fair the house advantage difference between 3:2 and 6:5 (about 1.4%) is much greater than the house advantage difference based on allowing or not allowing surrender (about .07% according to wizard of odds).

Good point. There's not much reason to seek out the best rules if you refuse to play them :ssst:

why , 6/5 and not surrending are 2 different things.

im superstitous thats why and i do better playing thru my choice, but playing 6/5 at 1000$ a hand is stuppid.

Yeah, I feel that surrender is a bit overrated. It's great if they offer it, but it's not even worth 0.1%. But I also cut my teeth in a market that never offers it (St. Louis), so I'm used to not having the chance to surrender.

I love surrender. (Actually, I HATE having to surrender, but I love when the option is available).

I play BJ mostly in Detroit, where surrender is only allowed on the Spanish 21 games, so Vegas BJ is always much more enjoyable for me.

I feel like I do so much better when I'm allowed to surrender (I only surrender 16 v. 9-A, 15 v. 10-A like the book says. Nothing else.)

Nothing pisses me off when a dealer badmouths surrender. I once had a dealer at the Cosmopolitan who said, "No one likes it better when you surrender than the casino. That and taking insurance on blackjack are for suckers."

I got really mad and told her she might want to do some research before she spouts out nonsense like that and that I'd be embarassed if I were her.

She didn't like that one bit.

Me too...I will surrender pretty much any 15 or 16 versus a dealer 8 or better showing though.

I can tell you honestly that I'm way ahead by playing that way. Well over 50% of the time, I would have busted if I had hit...and even if it were only 50%, then it would be an even proposition.

Good news and a surprising move given how rules are going downhill at many places. Hopefully late surrender is offered, which would then make the games comparable to the better MGM casinos. Where is the Bally's HL area/room?

Great question. It has been a while since I stayed there, but I will be honest, I didn't know they even had a high limit area at Ballys. And at $25 a hand with these rules, that's a really good option for some mid-strip players

There's some strange maths at work there! You have not factored in how many times you would win if you hit. The 50% figure only has any real relevance if you would have lost every time you hit. Then surrender would definitely be the wise choice on a lot of hands.:peace:
