No. I don't think anyone is really even following him and won't until ihe is back to full health. He is still relatively young and could still hit some of those milestones projected for him. But right now, it's been frustrating to see him pitched as a draw when we all know he hasn't been healthy.

I definitely care that Tiger is out and so should any fan of the sport. Whether you love or hate the guy, he is the most polarizing figure in the game and the greatest of our generation and at least top 3 of all time. He makes the sport better and attracts more fans. He's immeasurably good for the game of golf and the sport needs him to thrive.

I'm 26 and have been playing since I was 5. Golf helped me pay for college and allowed me to travel and play competitively for years. I never and mean never would have played the game if not for Tiger Woods. He made me fall in love with the game and has done the same for so many people.

For that reason alone, golf needs him because he's still more responsible for the growth of golf than anyone else on the planet. With that said a healthy Tiger is better than an injured Tiger so take the time, get healthy and come back and give us an exciting run at 18 because while good players will continue to come along it will be a long time before you see someone dominate the game the way Tiger has. Just enjoy the greatness and remember you could be watching history in the making.

    too many generic players

The PGA lacks color, and I'm not just talking about ethnic diversity. There is a serious lack of personality in the PGA, I'll give you Bubba Watson seems like a bit of a joker and at least Rickie Fowler is visually distinct from the rest of the pack but for the most part I think golf will go into a lull if another superstar doesn't emerge soon. And don't get me started on the LPGA...

This is just one man's opinion, but no matter his flaws, and he has quite a few, he brought an excitement and "prime time" to golf not seen since the hay days of Arnie and Jack.

Mickelson is a wonderful, daring player, but he is just "blah" as a personality.

Please bear with me: This time 9 years ago, I was recovering from triple bypass. It was just my second day back home. It was Masters' Sunday and I was planted in front of the tv. I couldn't go anywhere if I wanted. I was in my lounger, wrapped in an afghan, holding a pillow to my chest. Tiger rolled in that 80 footer and I forgot everything and came right out of the chair cheering. Suddenly, I realized what I had done and sheepishly sat back down, but I was smiling despite the fact that I felt like I had been hit in the chest by a huge dump truck.

There is also the fact that my Mom, who gave not a hoot in hell for golf, loved Tiger.

The man changed the entire sport, bringing in new fans (and new hackers) and a stunning new popularity to the game. The only athlete to compare him to is Michael Jordan.

So, that is what Tiger Woods means to ME!

Tiger is the master of excuses, bad knee, bad back, bad luck, bad rulings. That's what I'll miss, waiting for the "reason" he cant put anymore.

I'm kinda glad. I'm glad his chances of catching Jack in majors is getting slimmer by the day. In the beginning I wanted everything for Tiger, but now I want the greatest to really be a morally sound icon that youth can aspire to. 6 years and counting since his last one, might be too tough to get 4 more.

I love when people just throw out shit they have no proof or rational for...

Why is it so believable that Jack set all his records being "natural" but when it comes to Tiger it is blasphemy?

Do you not remember A-Rod denying ever taking anything until he was punished by MLB with a one year suspension. Well Woods has the same doctor from CANADA and if you can't see past the sand trap it's not my fault. However, after all this has been revealed Woods has nowhere been the same golfer and A-Rod hasn't been a good bat either. Only difference with A-Rod was MLB was determined to get to the bottom of his doping where golf doesn't want to kill their golden boy.

If you have a love affair with someone you can easily look past the bad things.

No where near the same golfer, I'll give you that but he has never failed a drug test on tour and he is aging, something that normal people do. My doctor here in the states is known for handing over medical marijuana prescriptions for just about anything including hangnails but I've never gotten a prescription from him for it, does that make me automatically a user because my doctor is associated with the practice? That's the most illogical and conclusory statement I have ever heard of. Until there is a positive test he's just as clean as Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead, or I guess in your mind they are just as dirty as him. Be appreciative of the greatness instead of such a hater, even in declining age and "how terrible" everyone says he is, he's still in the top 3 on tour at this time and if you don't believe me just ask his peers who continue to vote him player of the year.

Not sure you can really compare baseball to golf...baseball is alot more about pure strength, where as gold is more about finess and aim.

It's not like Tiger's drives are significantly shorter than they use to be, he is having trouble with aim and putting...not really something HGH would help...IMO

He still moves the needle, catching casual golf fans who would not tune in otherwise and driving gate big time. (Gate is not an issue at Augusta, obviously).

The impact of him not playing at Augusta will be mitigated to a good degree by the fact that it is the Masters and it's still one of the few tourneys non-golfers/casual fans will put eyes on.

I'm not even a fan but the dude took down five wins last year. Five. And he was reportedly "off song" then, too.

As for Jack, what exactly was the suite of designer PEDs in the 60s, 70s and 80s? In all other sports it was uppers and booze. Yep, both help come Sunday. Yep.

Two guys are responsible for golf as it exists today. Palmer. Woods. All the other greats and near-greats who came before or 'tween were, in terms of eyes and $$$, character actors. Look, golf is not growing. Never really has "grown." But they play for bazillions of bucks with more tourneys than ever, but the game itself is withering. One high-level corporate exec with an interest in tossing in to a tourney purse does "more" for the game than 100,000 folks kicking up the dirt at the local range. And that is where the powers that be trying to "grow" the game are still missing the boat. Until the golf model changes at the participation level it isn't going to grow, and eventually all the silver-haired CEOs and buyers of Buicks and Viagra are gonna die, there goes the Sugar Daddy and then where does that side of the game find itself?

You are the second one today to use that word "hate" and I can't understand why?

I enjoyed watching many athletes over many years but I lose respect when the evidence has pointed to cheating the game, whatever game they play because of PED........do you just accept that fact, and still think said athlete is the greatest even though he might not be the best in the game without PED. If he was the best he wouldn't be taking HGH/PED because there would be no reason to.

BTW baseball is a much more about how to hit a baseball then brute strength. Hitting a 98 mph fastball or breaking ball has nothing to do with strength. And hitting the baseball in the sweet spot is the only way to park it. If strength was all you need to succeed in MLB then only the biggest and strongest would be playing.

Yes, I do. Let's put his private life aside. This guy was and still is extremely beneficial to the sport. I and many of my friends would most likely never gotten into golf if not for the excitement that was Tiger Woods. He created a whole new generation of golfers. It's a shame the way he is going out. I really hope for a comeback.
