Let's say you call your host, or a host that you met at the casino while you were playing to set you up for a comped room, food , and/or beverage. Then on a run of bad luck you just can't get on so you go to another property to play, where you have better luck. Lets say it's a competing property. At check out will you get the shaft? Now lets say it's a sister property, like you're at a Harrah's property and you go to another Harrah's property, like from the Flamingo to the Quad. Is that Kosher? Either way is there anything they can do other than get mad? Can they say "Hey you didn't gamble enough so you have to pay for the room ". Will they take you in the back and break your knuckles with a ball peen hammer? just kidding here Will you get 86'ed ? I'm serious.
Probably depends on the chain. I don't think CET will care if you gamble at other sister casinos. Last time I was there my host reminded me that I should use my card if I'm playing at other properties. I think CET's hosts do not cover a specific casino/they're able to get you rooms/etc at any of the Vegas hotels. MGM is different from what I understand in that each property has their own hosts
If my luck is crap at Bally's, where I am staying and is my Host's primary hotel, and I go play at Caesars because my play at Bally's was crap and I needed a change, she doesn't care as long as I "keep it in the family." Now, if I have a bad day at Bally's and take all my play across the street to Bellagio and low play CET on my trip, she's not going to give me crap, and might overlook it for one trip based on history, but if I do it a lot, or several times, her generosity will diminish. Mlife is the other way, while they want you to "keep it in the family," those hosts want and need you to stay and play on your home property (where you are staying and your host is located) as that home play is what your host is measured on, not on play at other Mlife properties. Host will see your play at Bellagio, while staying at Aria, but host doesn't get credit for it, so while you'll earn the RC's, you may not satisfy your host enough to have them go the extra mile for you (not use RC's, use more discretionary comps on you). IMO, Mlife's system is totally ass-backwards and it's silly the way they do it. They should encourage and reward loyalty to the brand, not just a single property.
I agree with this but I have heard differing accounts from several players that I have met at MLife events. People have told me they are comped at one property and split their play between two or three MLife properties. Their host has said he is fine as long as they " keep it in the family". I will be at Aria in 4 weeks and plan to have a conversation with a host about this.
I look forward to your report, because that is what I have been told a couple times. MGM wants you to keep it in the family, but the host only gets credit for your play on their property. Any play elsewhere benefits your account, but not the host directly. It's as if that play elsewhere is uncredited to anyone specifically, unless you have a host on that property. For example, you're comp'd and staying at MGM, the MGM host gets credit for your MGM play, but you go across to Aria, where you have a host as well, and so your Aria host gets credit for your play there, even if you never see or speak to him/her and then if you go to Bellagio, same thing, credit would go to whomever your host is at Bellagio, if you have one, if you don't, it's credited to Mlife (and you, the player) as a whole, but the host does not receive credit
Maybe it depends on how big you are playing? If I'm a host - and I'm not - and I can get you to come down and play a lot...but I know some of your play will be at other MLife props, then I have a few choices. I can gamble and tell you that I want/need all your play. You may get pissed and walk - and I loose all your play. (This I might do if you are a small player and take the chance). Again though, If you are a big player I might tell you to just 'keep it in the family' knowing that you are going to play elsewhere and that you still play large enough at the prop I comped you at to make you worth my while. Just a thought.
The following variables make the answers not so easy. How much of the comped stuff is a marketing/corporate offer in the first place - even if it sounds like the host is being nice? Was a come on in offer, or come in and we will see what gets comped based on play? You asked if you played some with bad luck, then moved on. It would vary plenty based on how much you did play.
just make sure that doesn't happen at Wynncore i heard that hosts will retro-charge you the casino rate of $149/199 if they upfront comp your room and you've severely underplayed i always avoid hosts as much as possible since I wanna play at the level I'm comfortable at, not the level they're comfortable at
This is correct. Your play at any Mlife/MGM casino will count towards your comps, but the host only gets "credit" for play at their casino. I have also asked my host more than once. He is very clear that he only gets credit for my play at his casino, but he has never explicitly or even casually made me feel bad when I put in time elsewhere. I think there is some validity to the "going the extra mile" thing - host will definitely take care of you better if you focus most of your play at their casino (Mlife). To be clear, there is only so much discretion on total comps, but there are lots of other things they do for you in terms of giving you the VIP feeling. Lastly, I actually like that MGM makes their properties compete against each other. With so many properties consolidated between CET and MGM, I think the extra boost of intra-company competition helps keep the quality of MGM resorts higher than CET resorts.
