So I'm a huge Ratpack fan, but being only 42 I wasn't around to see them together, but did get a chance to see Sinatra once. Anyway, when I go to Vegas I try to block out the yahoos, bucketheads, and morons [and that's a lot of people!] and try to imagine what Vegas was like in the old days.
I was walking around the Venetian and was wondering where the footprint of the Copa Room was at the Sands.
Just wondering if anyone has any guesses or even some cool RatPack first hand stories from back in the day. I always wondered who the people were who got to see them live.
Is there even anything remotely comparable today? I doubt it.

Here is a Youtube video that shows the Sands floor plan and location of the Copa Room on the property: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAr1izictXo

The actual moment is 1:20, but the whole video kind of puts this great property in perspective.

Also, here is a view (1975) up above the Sands to get more of a idea where the Copa Room in regards to the entire property:

This is perfect, so based off that video, the old photo and some other photos and info online I was able to get a general area, but then I came across someone else on a message board that said the Travel Channel had the same question. So they took the the blue prints of both place and overlaid them and found out that basically the stairs/elevator from Tao Nightclub to the casino is where the Copa Room once stood.

I saw a documentary where Sheldon Adelson was asked that question and he said he thought it was pretty close to the steakhouse. I can't remember which documentary it was.

    Suggestion

I too am a huge, huge Rat Pack fan (actually, they called themselves The Clan)...Read Rat Pack Confidential by Shawn Levy (1998) and see the companion dvd The Rat Pack (1998), with Ray Liotta, Joe Mantegna and Don Cheadle. Both items available on Amazon.
I take the book with me whenever I go to Vegas (it's an addictive read).

Saw the movie, it was fun to watch. Need to get the book, thanks for the recommendation.
I love going to see 'The RatPack is Back' when I visit, I'm always the youngest in the room.

I love stuff like this. Despite how Vegas changes over the years, all the history stays there in its own special way.
