What's better playing a .25 JOB at 7/5 or a $1.00 9/5 JOB at $2.00 a pull? It seems to me you would play longer on the $1.00 machine

 

At $200 a pull? What VP game offers 160 hands of quarter JoB? Usually the most available is 100 play.

Or do you mean a $200 session of either 7/5 JoB at quarters vs. 9/5 JoB at dollars?

9/5 JoB will always give you the better average result, but if amount wagered per round is 4 times larger as well, your money won't necessarily last longer on the 9/5 machine.

 

Not sure where the "$200 a pull" comes from, unless you are playing max dollars on 40 lines ... ???
However, the 9/5 JOB has an "expected return" that is 2.3 % better than 7/5 JOB. The 45 credits for a full-house will definitely help you stay in the game better than 35 credits.

 

Yeesh... I thought it was kind of obvious they meant $2.00 and not $200

If you play the 25 cent machine the big thing is that you are only betting $1.25 per hand... on the dollar machine you are betting $2 per hand.

If you buy in with $100 on the quarter machine you will get to play 80 hands just going through your bankroll one time... on the dollar machine betting 2 credits you only get 50 hands before you have gone through your bankroll.

Cutting back the number of hands played will up the variance.


As for what the 7/5 versus 9/5 means: the only hands that are going to be different for you are the royal flush and the full house.

The royal flush is pretty unlikely at coming up only once in about every 41,000 hands... if you hit it on the dollar machine you will win $500 versus if you hit it on the quarter machine (at max bet) you would get $1000

The full house on the other hand comes up once in every 86 hands and if you play for an hour thats going to be about 9-10 full houses (on statistical average). With the quarter machine a full house (at max bet) would pay $8.75 whereas on the dollar machine its going to pay $18 (at 2 credits).

So thats actually a pretty huge difference: if you were to play for four hours in an evening you are talking about roughly a $350 difference.


As for which is better:
In the short run the dollar machine is going to be better because that full house comes up so often... but the big question is how much/how often/how long are you going to play?

If you play long enough and get in enough hands to where you eventually hit that royal flush then in the long term the quarter machine is better because on the dollar machine you are going to win 500 credits for hitting a royal but on the quarter machine you will hit 4000 credits for the same and its hard to make up that difference with just a couple of extra credits from the full house.

 

On the dollar machine, it would be $5 per hand ... correct ??

Which is better, to play a quarter machine JoB that is 7/5 at max bet (5 credits per hand)... or a dollar machine that is 9/5 at 2 credits per hand, NOT max bet.
