i have been lurking and reading on the board for about 6 months. i have made about 10 vegas trips in the past 6-7 years. i have had the guys weekend, a week long trip, and a few gf trips of varying length. over easter i am making my first solo trip, as plans fell through for some of the other guys. i am a cet player and staying at the flamingo. any recommendations for an early 30's male that would come into play on a solo trip?

i take 3-4 trips a year and always do at least 1 solo. I find it very relaxing as I can skip the shopping and expensive shows I usually have to do with girlfriend trips. If it is warm enough, i bring a book and sit by the pool. Most meals are at coffee shops or buffets while reading a paper.
I have made many friends at the BJ tables and often get asked to tag along from lunch or dinner.
Once you go solo, you will want to do it again.
I recommend getting a rental car and checking out Red Rock Canyon and do some hiking there. I also like visiting some of the local casinos (green valley, red rock and suncoast)
Try the Egg Works on Flamingo Ave. It is a 10 minute drive but well worth it

I'm about your age, but Female, and I like solo trips. It's relaxing, and I can do whatever I want!

If you want to eat something nice, sit at the bar, that's more comfortable. Also shows are totally fine solo. I didn't find it awkward at all. I know you are a male, but just use good judgement when walking at night, and meeting people. Also I find planning things about a little bit helps. So you don't just blow all your money gambling the first few hours of your trip.

For me, I just enjoyed calling it an early night and relaxing, nobody there to tell you otherwise.

I made my first solo trip a few years ago (while in my early 30's), under similar circumstances. Had some friends back out last minute. And, wouldn't you know, I was also staying at the Flamingo. In case you're apprehensive about going solo, let me list a few things you won't be doing on this trip:
-You won't be eating at a restaurant that you don't like, 3 hours later (or earlier) than you wanted, because the rest of your posse out-voted you.
-When the group decides to go somewhere, you won't spend precious time herding all of your drunk friends who: forgot something in the room/need to use the restroom/want to 'finish the shoe' /need to hit the ATM/etc.
-You won't have to brush your teeth in the bathroom your buddy just blew up with his atomic dump, nor will you have to endure his ~90db snoring for the length of your trip.
-You won't be pulled away from a hot table/machine by the other members of your group at the worst possible time, because the rest of your group is ready to move along.

Anyway, If you're anything like me, I suspect your'e going to wonder why you haven't gone solo before. Other tidbits:
Obviously, solo gambling isn't a problem. Are you a poker player? If so, I think Flamingo is a great joint to play. Relatively easy game, low limits, great drink service, and phone chargers at the table. Flamingo is also a great location, as it is within easy walking distance of.....pretty much everything on the strip.
As far as food goes, I've only had positive solo dining experiences. I'm not a "fine dining" kind of guy. If you're like me, there's a cafe and a pizza joint that sells tasty slices. They're both near the rear (west side) of the casino. The Flamingo is also blessed with a food court. Also, you now have access to the Linq. I'm told that it's LOADED with dining options, though I haven't had the pleasure of trying any. In addition, you're not too far from Ellis Island, on Koval and Flamingo. I've had many a solo meal/cocktail at that joint. Nice, casual place.

Now, go forth, and have a shitload of fun by yourself. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I am an east coast guy and have done a few solo trips to AC so I am not worried that I won't enjoy the experience.

jimbo: i will be sure to check in on that thread closer to the trip. Once I see the forecast I will make a decision on the pool or a trip to meet some board members.

Nothing wrong with going solo to vegas
Have been there 20 times( all the way from holland). Apart from 2 trips with my brother and 1 internetfriend all my trips have been solo. The only thing which is less is eating alone, but last two trips and upcomming trip that wont be the case.
And yeah as solo single guy you can be spoken to by the ladies of the night( just say no and walk on :nono: )

If you're solo downtown and feel like a steak dinner, head over to Vic & Anthony's at Golden Nugget or Andiamo's at the D. Both are great and serve food at the bar.

Binions and Four Queens also have steak houses that are popular, but neither will serve you food at the bar so you'll need a table. Which is fine, I just prefer the bar if dining alone.

This May will be my 6th trip to Vegas, and my fifth time going solo.... it's one of my favorite places to go, and one of the few that no one looks at me strangely for being by myself....
