Caesars Palace - Augustus or Octavius Tower?

I'm trying to decide between the Augustus or Octavius towers at Caesars Palace.

Can someone give me the pros and cons of one versus the other?

Octavius
Pros : Tower is newer, has Updated decor, Larger TVs.
Cons: The room is smaller, further from the lobby/casino (you have to walk through the base of Augustus to get there), Views not as nice.

Augustus
Pros: Rooms are larger, Better views of the strip, Some south side views face the Bellagio Fountains, Closer to the Lobby/Casino/Starbucks.
Cons: Older decor, some wear (our room was very well maintained), small TV.

We stayed in the Augustus a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the view of the fountains.

That's an awesome view. It sounds like you prefer Augustus. I think I'd prefer the shorter walk and the larger room, over a slightly newer room.

How do I ask for a room like that? Simply ask for Augustus tower room facing south? Or do I have to worry about certain odd or even room numbers to get a specific section of the tower?

The walk to Octavius takes forever. I will never stay in that tower again. The difference in rooms is subtle.

 

Augustus tower has their own porte cochère and check-in desk. They also have free coffee or tea in the mornings downstairs as well. The latter is as of last year when I stayed there, maybe they don't have the free coffee anymore.
As mentioned, it's also closer to the front of the casino and has an exit right across from Bellagio.

To get the view, reserve a "luxury" Augustus room. They are on the higher floors and have the great views, but are otherwise the same as the "deluxe" rooms.

I loved the jacuzzi tub in the Augustus. We also had a little TV in the bathroom, but the Octavius luxury rooms have in-mirror TVs.

I have heard a lot about people not getting the rooms they reserved at Caesars, but All Net Dad and I had no trouble when we checked in. We reserved a Luxury King Augustus -- that is exactly what we got.

 

I would think the views from Augustus would be much better, especially facing south.

 

It is a long walk back to Octavious but it is closer to the pools and buffet than Augustus. I think the room in Octavious may be just the tiniest bit nicer but either one is great. Pool view from Octavious is very nice but when we would glance into south facing rooms seemed like all we could see was the back of Bellagio. Augustus (high room) south view is fabulous, never stayed in north facing rooms but the layout might suggest some pool view as well as overseeing the roof of the casino/coliseum.
