The Mr is springing for my BD weekend in Vegas this August:nworthy:

After our last summer trip to Vegas in the 'dry heat':faint:, decided if we returned same time period we'd pick a hotel where we'd want to hang, hit the pool early & and possibly venture out for a show one evening.

Already booked our flights to arrive early & catch late afternoon flight back home = desired guaranteed i.e. we pay for it lol early check-in & late check-out. Monte Carlo & NYNY both offer this.

Somewhat confused with how the Mirage words their early checkin option "...as early as 10 am...". Sounds like a 'maybe' to me...does anybody know? Also, didn't see any option for late checkout there. Is it customary for bell services to hold luggage in Vegas free or fee?

The Royal Caribbean offer seems to be best cancellable deal right now with resort credit, we're not big enough Mlife players to have much shaking in offers. Would like to book something, then keep an eye on it since I'm thinking summer might offer some appealing deals.

Here are the rates (with taxes/resort fees but not including the fees for early/late checkin-out times) I'm finding for a Thurs & Fri, :

    MC - $220 less $100 resort credit
    NYNY - $260 less $100 resort credit
    Mirage - $280 less $150 resort credit

    TIA for any suggestions.

Monte Carlo for me - as far as value MC is one of the best deals at that end of the strip

Stayed at all 3 but MC was about 10yrs ago. NYNY and Mirage was last year and I would say go for Mirage, can't beat the location, liked the pool area, especially the dolphin bar was awesome to hang for the afternoon. Room was great as was the service.

The price isn't too different so I'd pick Mirage. NyNy and Monte Carlo are outdated and are under going some fairly massive construction right now. They are also a half step below Mirage in my opinion.

$150 resort credit is pretty nice, that could buy 2 meals, or a spa treatment.

They will hold it for free, although a tip is generally considered good form (as with most things in Vegas).

You mentioned hanging out by the pool. I think Mirage has the best pool of the 3 and the rooms are nicer IMO

Mirage is a nicer and higher tier hotel than NYNY or MC. I really like the location better as well.

I would pick Mirage out of the three listed, especially if you plan on spending time at the pool.

should I assume it will continue thru august?

haven't stayed that far up the strip, wondering much time should I allow for taxi to reach airport on a Saturday afternoon.

indeed, actually surprised they don't charge a set fee.

the pool pics I've seen look to have lots of shade.

    thanx all

I also say Mirage. Location is much better. South end of the strip has become a bit less desirable in my opinion.

I've stayed at all 3 during the month of August. Given that your offers are similar, I'd rank them as follows:

    1) Mirage - Nicer Pool, nicer property, good gambling and sports book. not my favorite dining options though
    2) Monte Carlo - Favorite casino to gamble
    3) NY NY - I like their Bars better than the others, but not a big fan of the casino

Via satellite view of NYNY, doesn't appear to be much shade by the pool, may just visit it to drop some $ if in that area. Haven't had much luck there, or the mirage for that matter lol.

found my TR card, signed in & was offered comp'd standard room for 1 night @ Harrah's, reviews are scary, will pass.

Did a quick check, was surprised TR rates seem to be substantially higher overall than Mlife's for my dates.

MC pool is very small. But we are spoiled with the Mandalay Bay pool area.
We booked this weekend our "1st week of september trip" and split nights between the mirage and the vdara.
we might cancel one and change it too a MB reservation. just because of the pool area.

MB & MGM have been on our bucket list and the rates are another $30 or so a night over the resorts I've referenced here with the RCCL promo. We eliminated them from the short list since DH was warned against it (and MGM) during the summer by a co-worker who visits Vegas frequently.

imo he's a bit of a know-it-all, kill-joy:rolleyes2:, I'd love to hear he's wrong lol but if I discount him out-of-hand and book and he turns out 'right' i'll never hear the end of it

He states MB frequently has a wait to enter the pool area & then is 'standing room only' :confused2: He also referenced that it's being refurbed with a summer opening and will likely be slammed. my thoughts, we are east coast peeps and would be there when it opened and likely gone within an hour or so in the summer heat

Re: MGM, he states the pools are over-run by 20-some-things (we're middle-aged, not dead, like to have fun). Said the room choices all had issues: I agree the signature buildings look to be a hike, but he states West Wing studios resemble a cruise ship cabin & that Grand King rooms are too far away from the pool.

Any thoughts as to whether we should take him seriously?

MGM has a big pool party as does MB so unless you are there at open you will probably have a wait and not find many places to sit but that goes for any pool with the bigger parties. I say Mirage is the way to go

I too have stayed at all 3. I am generally a mirage fan but the blackjack conditions have really gone downhill there recently and since TI is slowly spiraling into the seventh circle of Hell, thanks Phil, the location is not as good as it used to be.
Monte Carlo rooms are starting a remodel soon and should be available to you in August so I think that's the place to go. I also like the location, you are physically connected to Aria and a tram to Bellagio means you've got access to high joints while the MC still has decent blackjack at $10

I prefer the rooms at Mirage compared to MC or NYNY. (I have stayed at all 3 at least once.)

The pool campus is nicer at Mirage, but the MC pool is more FUN. The main pool at Mirage is so laid back, I liked the more party atmosphere of MC pool. (Never been to the pool at NYNY.)

MC/NYNY and Mirage locations are good for their own different reasons.

For me, I would choose based on where I intended to spend most of my time. Sometimes I feel like mid/north strip, sometimes I feel like mid/south strip.

(Just saw your other post about wanting shade. You will find more shade at the Mirage pool than the MC pool. Stayed at both last August in fact.)

def a consideration. leaning toward MC for access on the cirque shows in the area. We've seen show @ the Mirage.

likely the heat will permit us from spending much time poolside

didn't help to receive an offer from caesars for roman room @ $200 or a flamingo standard @ $170, too many great choices lol.

from several reviews i've read, it appears that a large portion of the MC pool is shaded by the surrounding buildings until approx. 11 am and then again around 3 pm...the tipping point for us in August:thumbsup:

Rate for standard room via the RCCL promo wound up after all taxes & fees to be $244 for a thurs & fri, less the $100 resort dining credit.

I will keep checking the various promos, but wondering if I can realistically hope to beat effective price of $144 down the road?
