    My Trip Report

This report will be somewhat brief because work beckons.

Booked SW in early January, and flights never got less expensive. Booked 3 nights comped at MGM, then added a fourth night there via MyVegas. MGM also offered some FP Double booked Orleans for two comped nights and Gold Coast for two comped nights. Both of those offered food and MP comps with their offers.

This trip was solo due to circumstances with several usual travel buddies. My first solo trip in many years.

I'll just point out some highlights.

Flights: The flight out was perfect. Timely, and I got my seat of preference. the return flight had some issues. There was a medical emergency on board within 10 minutes of departure. We returned to McCarren and stayed on the ground for almost two hours before getting airborn again. The medically passengers did a wonderful job to save this person's life.

Hotels: MGM did a fantastic job of combining my reward with my comp reservations. In fact, the check in clerk upgraded my reward room to my comp room, which made it a transparent 4 night free reservation in one room. He even waived some resort fees. Checkin and out at the Orleans and Gold Coast was seamless. In fact, I never even entered the rooms in those hotels.

Golf: Poor experiences at two courses, both of which were in immaculate condition. Tuscany allowed 23 fivesomes to play a tournament in the groups just ahead of my tee time. After an agonizing 3 1/3 hours to play nine holes, we quit. They did offer me a $50 raincheck. Two days later, I played Rhodes Ranch. They now offer 7 minutes between tee times. For you golfers out there, you know what happens. It took 4 1/2 hours to play 13 holes, and we quit. As much as I like these two courses, I doubt I'll return until things are fixed.

Gambling: Overall, I ended up spending only $200 on all food and all gambling in five days. Nothing major, no 1099G's. Usually won at BJ and PGP. Had a few decent slot hits in the $200 range. Using my ACG coupons, I was dead even on $70 of MP, plus $86 on $135 of FP. I never even found the Lions Share machine in MGM. Downtown in the morning is almost depressing. And FYI, the Plaza does not have any ticket redemption machines. You need to take your ticket to the cage. When I was there for my FP, there was one person working the cage, and a line. I shall not return. Tried one new thing....Club Fortune in Henderson. I met up with my inlaws who live there, after golfing Tuscany. We stayed there for several hours, and one very unusual thing happened.

My SIL was playing a penny slot for 80 cents. She won 150 free spins. While those spins played, she was rewarded several occurances of 10-30 more spins. And one time when I was watching, she received an additional 600 spins. It was amazing. The free spins lasted an hour and a half. She had over 1000 free spins. Her total winnings were about $800 for those spins.

Another interesting thing (at least to me), I was visiting my nephew, who usually is a craps dealer at the Wynn. On this day, he was in the pit, overlooking a small group of BJ tables. There was only one player in his entire pit. It was about 7:30 am, and the player was left over from the previous shift. The guy was a recognized player there. Quite loud, quite drunk. He was betting plenty, and splitting 10's, not playing anywhere near basic strategy. I just shook my head, and watched as he was asked to leave by verbally abusing his dealer.

Food: The nicest meal I had was the first night there. Using the $25 NFI reward from MyVegas, I sat on the patio, with an ice cold beer, and enjoyed an excellent rendition of Shepards Pie. I just watched people walk by, and soaked up the pleasant weather. The other reward I used was the MGM dinner buffet. It was well above average.

I'm going back in two months with a daughter and her friend. I'm giving them my comped room in Monte Carlo, while I stay off strip. Looking forward to a new type of adventure to a couple LV virgins.

Thanks for reading, if you've gotten this far.

Sorry about your experience with the ticket redemption machines at the Plaza!

When I was there in January, there were only a handful & seemed to be difficult to find.

Hope your next trip is fun!

Nice report. May have to try Nine Fine Irishmen again. It's been awhile. $200 for the trip...I'd call that a win!

    Kitson,
The patio of Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY. Just one of those Vegas moments we all understand.

Club Fortune was the Henderson casino. It's waaaaaaaaaaay out there, but close to the golf course I had played, and close to where my inlaws live. You definitely don't want to taxi there.

Did you book Orleans and GC for freeplay? Good to know you can combine comped rooms with MyVegas rewards.
