. . . anyone stay here recently? I'm considering tacking on two extra nights here on an offer through Southwest.

Any information would be great. Thanks!

We have never stayed here. But we visit it every year on our vacation.
We love playing here and the buffet is very good for the cost.

We spent 5 nights last June. We absolutely loved the place. Its comparable to any mid level strip property as far as the room goes. The food is better than average on the strip and about half price or less. Drinks are half price to 1/3 strip prices. They have a decent amount of entertainment, you just have to pay attention to the signs posted in the casino.

We loved the pool, quiet and relaxing. Adult contemporary music playing just the right volume. Drink service was okay, but bar was just a short hop anyways. We sat under the same palm tree and had shade all week.

The Mexican restaurant was my favorite, huge portions, chips and salsa bar, got way stuffed. The Italian restaurant was good too, price was more on par with normal strip restaurants, not the over the top ones thought. Dinner/wine/appetizer for two around a hundo.

Caution, if you cab it the fare is about $30 to $40 to strip. We also found out the hard way that off strip cabbies are licenses differently and may not be familiar with the strip area. Ours got lost going to Hard Rock and about had a panic attack when she ended up on the strip. I had to direct her back. She knocked our far off by 1/2 to make up for it, but wasted about a half hour of our time. She said she rarely leaves Henderson.

Also got my first Royal at the center bar while waiting on our room to be ready for check in!! nice to win $1180 before you even unpack!

From the BTC downtown the city bus will get you to Sunset Station in about 25 minutes if you use the HDX. It might seem strange to take this counterintuitive route from the airport, but the WAX will get you downtown and the HDX to Sunset Station in a little over an hour depending upon the wait for the HDX at the BTC and the WAX at the airport.
So, for a senior wanting a 15 day pass for $17, this might not be a bad way to start a Vegas trip. A dollar gets you to the BTC on the WAX, you buy the all access pass, and then hop on the HDX and get to Sunset Station in about 25 minutes.

I would take this route over that suggested in the trip planner 109-201-115. I don't like being out Tropicana waiting for a bus with luggage.

Notes on the website do indicate that the pool is only open on weekends, but perhaps those are winter hours.

PS: Resort fee notes ($16.80) indicate a free shuttle from the airport.

The pool is open 7 days a week after April when pool season starts.

As of last June when we were there the shuttle had been discontinued, but still showed on the website.

Thanks to everyone for responding! I will have a car, but I appreciate the shuttle and bus information just the same.

I can get a rate of $28 a night through Southwest, so I think I will go ahead and tack on a couple extra nights at SS. I've gamed there a couple times, but never stayed.

Looking forward to it! Thanks again!

Years Ago But Really Enjoyed It

I was a Station loyal for years and really enjoyed the Sunset, sounds like the dining selection has stayed diverse. There used to be a killer fish house next to the Gaudi Bar that had an outstanding chowder.

Another thing we liked was the mall and the Costco more or less right across the street.

They have suites, last time I stayed there there in 2008 the twenty dolla' holla' at checkin netted me a suite. Nice corner suite with bar and dining room, that was a midweek stay though.

Have fun and good luck :):):)

Went there a couple days ago to use a 2 fer buffet from American Casino Guide. Buffet was good and the BJ $5 tables with fun vibe. GT won $200 on penny slots so she was happy.

    I like the place.

Me and my boyfriend would stay here regularly with comped rooms. The rooms are nice, the pools is great, and everyone is super friendly. Unfortunately, last summer they tried to jack us around. We booked 3 comped nights and had been advised we could upgrade and get a cabana for each day of our stay also for an additional fee of 80 bucks total. Well on check out our bill was 300.. Not the 80 bucks advised. Printed the email and and asked to speak to a manager but they advised they couldn't do anything. Complained to Casino Host and emailed Station and received no call or email to correct situation or apologize. Finally had to dispute the over billing with my credit card company before we could get anything done. We are currently looking for a new place to spend our money.

are there other Henderson or Lake Las Vegas casinos that would be a short drive or possibly a walk from this property?
