I have been wanting to try both of these steak houses. Which one would you recommend for a solo diner?

I've never been to CC, but I dined solo at the Golden Steer last month.

I liked the old-school vibe. Seemed like the Rat Pack was going to show up.

I had the NY strip steak. It was a notch below the best I've ever had, but it was quite good. The service was very good. Friendly, but not too friendly, if you know what I mean.

Never been to the golden steer but can vouch for the CC Steakhouse. It also has the old-school feel and the quality is great. The value is great as well (They offer sides with their steaks).

I've been to both restaurants. They are not in the same class - but you get what you pay for.

Circus Circus is probably the best in Las Vegas for value.
Golden Steer is classic and high-class old Las Vegas (even though the outside of the building is looking pretty shoddy).

Expect to literally pay twice as much per person at Golden Steer. But, the quality is very high, the sides are incredible, and the service is top notch.

When my wife and I dine at Circus Circus the bill is about $100 with drinks.
At Golden Steer our bill is about $230 with drinks.

Both are good. Very good, and I would much rather dine at either than the chain steak places.

Don't poo-poo the one at Circus because it's at Circus! It's really out of place there. It's excellent.

Golden Steer is very "Old Vegas" in feel.

For me and my brother also.

We used the My Vegas $150 reward, went during happy hour...and had a hard time using it all.

I was told that they don't move it to another location because it continually gets such high reviews that they don't want to mess with it.

My number one place to eat in Vegas is The Steakhouse in CC. I look forward to every visit. The staff has always been very friendly while providing excellent service...they don't hover, or annoy....just enough to ensure your needs/wants are met. I personally have never had a bad meal there. I know! it's in CC, and I don't care for CC at all but once in the restaurant you will never know you are in CC...great atmosphere. We always use the valet parking, saves a lot of walking and it's CC...no waiting. lol

I would like to thank everyone for the great responses. Sounds like I can't go wrong with either one. Heck, I'm there for 4 nights I might just try both.

Ty, I don't recall any entertainment (midweek though) during our dinner but they have the grilling area pretty much in the open, that provides some fun.
