Just had to vent....we went to Winstar last night and I sat down with $3 at a colossal reels Spartacus machine. It started paying enough that I was able to last quite a long time betting 50 cents a pop. The lady next to me.....oh Lord. She had about $150 in her Lil Red machine when I sat down and she hit a bonus. It retriggered three times and she was racking up the cash. I made the mistake of saying "oh wow, that's great!" When I heard the second retrigger. She proceeded to tap me on the arm every time thereafter she would hit a bonus and wanted me to watch. Her machine was on fire and it was clear she had never played one before because she kept asking me questions like, how many houses did she need for the bonus, how many more spins she would get if it retriggered etc... All the while I'm over there plugging away on mine, never getting a bonus and going cold.

I was trying to be happy for her but I was so annoyed. She kept saying "I just want to get up to $500 then ill be happy" we'll she did...I ran out of money and she was over there clapping and freaking out. I probably would have been too if it were me, but it wasn't. Story of my life, it never fails that I sit next to the person hitting bonus after bonus and I can't get even one!

See that "Cash out" button to your left? Hit it and walk.

I say good for her. I've been in that situation a few times where i can't hit a damn thing, but the person next to me is winning millions (OK, i'm exaggerating, so sue me).
I'll even stick around if i'm ready to leave and cheer him/her for a few minutes. Vegas does that to people.........you win some, you lose some.......sometimes at the end of your trip you break even.
The bottom line is it all evens out. Whether it be this trip or next.

Not too long ago I was playing VP next to a guy who I could tell was on a bad losing streak. He looked miserable.

Within about 10 hands of sitting down I held an ace and drew the rest of the royal.

I think I said something like "Holy Sh1t!" - not directed at him in any way. I'm not the type to rub it in to anyone. The guy gets all flustered and slams the cash out button on his machine. I think he may have just moved over from the machine I was playing. I thought he was going to take a swing at me.

I've been on the other side of that equation many times too. I try not to begrudge anyone their good fortune.

    I've been on both sides.

A couple years ago I was playing Crazy Four Poker at the Rio. I usually play at least $50 a circle. A guy walks up, inquires about the game and sits to my right. On his first hand he gets quad deuces! That would have been my hand had he not taken it. All I could do was smile, and imagine him going through a brush chipper....

Same here. If your machine is cold as hell, then give it a "rest" and watch your neighbors machine instead.Done this many times and even got a drink from the CW even though I hadn't hit the spin button for like an eternity.

Don't be jealous of your neighbors machine and the "ice queen" you are playing on. Just remember, you're not supposed to win anyway. :evillaugh

I never understood being "crabby" about someone else's wins. The only exception being a progressive, since now you can't win it. Even with that, though........come on. Maybe gambling isn't for you?

Now that stings BAD! One time at Margaritaville in Biloxi my GF and I were playing 3 Card Poker. She could not hit anything....I was hitting. She said lets trade places, as the whole table was laughing (it was a fun table with everyone cutting up).

I said sure, for I wanted her to win and I had won more chips than expected. Guess what happens after the move. Her old seat now starts to hit and the one I was in goes cold. The table and the dealer were cracking up! Now Cindy is not the kind of person that gets mad at this. Disappointed yes, and she will say it in a way that makes everyone keep on laughing (she has a good sprit).

Asked her if she wanted her old seat back, and she says hell no, it's not going to matter where I sit (in a funny way).. Table cracks up again. Eventually the tide turned, she starts hitting and my seat turns cold. Near the end of our session, she hit 3OAK!

I say to everyone, but that is my 3OAK in that sad puppy dog face way. Everyone cracks up! If things get cold, we can get really disappointed. And session after session, it sucks!

Last trip to Vegas, I played mostly DDB, and I never hit a single QUAD. Nada, zilch, zero, and I said REALLY! Guess what other people we doing around me?

We have all had the person next to us winning that slot that we could not hit anything on. Happens more often that we want it to. I have done the reverse also. Sit at someone's cold machine and it hits, and hits, and I see their disgust in my side vision. If they only knew what I was saying inside, "I know it sucks for you, but you have no idea how many times that sh*t happens to me TOO!" :evillaugh

I get excited when I go into a bonus.. I normally say "YES" and raise my arms up.. quickly and drop them down.. I just get excited. I don't try and make a big deal.. but I love to share in others excitement. When someone next to me is having a good run.. I normally cheer them on if they are receptive. If not, I leave them alone. I do ask if they mind if I watch them if they go in the Bonus. I despise people who play ANGRY and slam the chair and bit** and moan about losing, losing, losing. It is not fun to lose.. but do you have to bring everyone else around you down in your misery? If the Negative person stays next to me..and my machine isn't HOT, then I'll move. Life choices are to not have Negative people in my life if I can control it.

I was more annoyed with her touching my arm and constantly talking....it took away from me watching my own machine. Of course I could've left but you know the feeling.....I'm gonna get a bonus any minute .......yada yada....

This is the worst for me too. And to answer your question, in Nevada probably not. But you could gamble in Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, or Ohio. Some other states have state run casino bans. A non smoking casino is a very nice smell. What sucks is in all of those states i listed except Colorado, you have to pay for your booze too. But my home state is one of the worst: allows smoking and makes you pay for drinks! :grrr:

That's still a lot better then having someone plop down next to you who looks at the machine like it was some kind of 1950's computer written in Russian.

"Do you know how to play this?"

To me the worst neighbor is the one who makes such a mess. Ashes covering everything, drinks spilled and crap everywhere.

Three types of people will make me get up from my machine no matter what. Somebody covered the first one, the clueless "How do you play this?" person. Second is the slammer, who believes the harder you hit the spin button the more it will pay. Third is the swearer. They swear when they're winning, they swear when they're losing, they're incapable of saying a sentence without cursing.

The slammer. It's like scratching a chalk board, over and over.

The worst machine to be sitting near, when someone hits a jackpot, is "Caveman Keno". That little repetitive noise-maker will drive you crazy !!! :grrr:
