Mon Bel Ami Opinions?

Hello there, I've been leaning towards Viva Las Vegas for our Elvis wedding the gazebo outside at night since it's a prettier version of a Vegas wedding. But the whole time I've been hesitant because it looks a little "tacky" to
Me. Of course fun tacky but not my thing. I waned nice looking place plus Vegas and until now I haven't been able to find it. Has anyone had experience with Mon Bel Ami? It looks very pretty and I can add Elvis!!! Any insight would be appreciated? The lady said it was closer to Friedmont St, do you see that being a problem?

 

OK, this goes back a fair number of years, but when I wrote Neon Nuptials I was well disposed toward both chapels. VLV goes off the chart with the kitsch, indeed, and that gazebo isn't exactly warm and cozy and all romantico given the setting. But there are many things the place has going for it, notably that they don't take their seriousness too serious and they are accepting and inviting. MBA is more sedate and buttoned down, or as sedate and buttoned down as the Vegas wedding industry can be.

For standalone chapels, two more I'd suggested you check out are Chapel of the Flowers and Vegas Weddings (702wedding.com).

Generally, the least amount of kitsch and plastic roses comes courtesy of the casino-based chapels … generally.

 

My wife and I were married at Mon Bel Ami a few years ago. She ended up picking that one cause she thought it was "cute". I liked the price and what they include for your dollar. The coordinator they assign you helps you square everything away over phone / email well before hand. We did a complete package including a reception in their little house in the back of the property. They provided us with the flowers, cake, food, drinks and champagne for 50 people for $1500. The reception was 3 hours and they include the photographer for a full 2 hours. The reception venue has a sound system and includes an attendant to help things along. My wife loved the flowers they provided and the cake was really really good. I didn't feel like a cheesy wedding, we didn't get rushed and the staff was caring and attentive. Our officiant really helped bring it all together, she put together a really beautiful ceremony that we loved. The fact that its close to downtown helps us, its close to the marriage license office. We were able to get our license the day before and walk over to MBA and check it out before the wedding.

Me niece was married at Mon Bel Ami back in 2004. (Reception to follow at Mon Ami Gabi, how confusing). That was my first and only Vegas wedding. I found every thing about it 'small'. I felt like I was a giant in a regular church, or somehow the wedding was in a dollhouse. Just a weird vibe all around. It didn't really have a tacky feel, but if they threw in Elvis, and a boombox playing here comes the bride, that would have done it I think.

 

Sorry. Missed this. First, you're welcome. As for location, too far shouldn't be a concern 'cause I assume y'all are driving or limo'ing in? It's just a bit removed from the FSE, farther removed from the Strip. Certainly not the proximity of an in-casino chapel when staying at that casino, though often entail a wee walk to get to. That woulda been about the time they were remodeling, perhaps right before it was done.

 

I believe it was a June Wedding. The NBA finals were in full force at the time.
