I have gone over the messages on the board over the past two days, and can find nowhere is there any reference to the passing of Jackie yesterday. I say this because I can recall no detrimental posts about him since I have been checking the board regularly (over two years), and have seen many posts where he is described as an icon, or in other most complimentary terms.
Never met the gentleman, but this Old Canadian and his good wife stayed at the Plaza probably 8-10 times in the late 80's and early 90's. We got TWO free rooms for 3 nights each, and I know of no way we gambled anywhere near enough to warrant them. We DID take advantage of them as much as we could, and they kept coming. We rather enjoyed the Plaza, and recall the café was OK and reasonable, and the upscale restaurant overlooking the strip was pretty special, too, (at least for US!).
We are now Orleans/Gold Coast supporters, and just do not enjoy the ambience or whatever that now exists at the revamped Plaza.
But I do think probably Jackie warrants some more (farewells or whatever) from Board members who have more knowledge about him and his contribution to Vegas (particularly downtown) than I do.

Thanks for this. Never thought to check Casino Development section. Anyhow, these are the sort of cryptic but heartfelt comments that I thought
should and would be coming from the board.
