We found Tacos El Gordo a few years back on one of our early guys trips to Vegas. I live in So Cal and this is STILL one of the best mexican food joints in Vegas. They do also have a location in CA but it's located in an area I don't frequent.

My favorites at Tacos El Gordo:
    Lengua tacos
    Cabeza tacos
    Lengua quesadilla...They basically make a quesadilla into a taco...genius!
    Great Carne Asada
The pork adobada is some of the most amazing I've ever had. They cook it al pastor style...if you're lucky you will be the random recipient of a delicious slice of the pineapple that adorns the top of the spit...

    FANTASTIC!

yes it is...and my favorite part about it is you don't have to walk miles through a casino to get to it...just a little strip mall on the side. Parking is limit but I've never had a problem finding a space.

This place is awesome. I discovered it late one night while staying at Wynn years ago. I didn't know until pretty recently that it is hugely popular. I think I'm going to go back to Wynn for my next trip so will definitely hit this up again.

What's wrong with Chula Vista that you don't go there? The one on Palm off of 805 isn't a bad neighborhood it's just an old part of town.

Went out of our way to eat there on our past trip after reading many positive reviews. Came exactly as advertised. Great eats full of wonderful flavours and the added bonus of entertainment by the dude literally throwing the tacos together. You know a place is going to be good when there are 3 lines out the door

Oh nothing wrong with Chula Vista. It's just that I live about 3 hours north of that and I don't make it down that far south very often. But since I found out about tacos el gordo I told myself i'd check it out if I was ever driving through.

Oh yeah I wouldn't travel 3 hours for it haha. I misread and thought you were in SD County. My wife really likes the whole Roscoes Chicken and Waffles but I refuse to drive to Long Beach for it unless we're already there.

I didn't care for the spicy pork, but the beef shoulder was awesome. The pork was not crispy like Al pastor tacos I had in Sunnyside, Queens.

Love-love-love this place!! Here is my review of TEG from my July 2013 trip:

Tacos El Gordo – Finally!!! I made it!!! I went in with el pastor tacos on my mind. But when I saw an order of Carne Asada Fries, I changed course. I got the small order and glad I did. It was some straight up Mexican food goodness! I love this place. The lines were crazy, it was hot in there, families squished in together at the small tables, people hollering across each other – I loved it! And I will be back now that I know where it is.

I was watching Travel Channel and one of the big shot chefs at Wynn said that this is his favorite lunch spot. FWIW

No, I was up that way on business a couple years ago and read about this place online, it was near a park, on a busy street. I think the tacos were $1.50 each, they were outstanding.

I just realized, it was Sunset Park in Brooklyn, sorry! But in Sunnyside, I had some empanadas that were awesome, someplace on Greenpoint Ave.

    So what line....

    Hi All,

I'm a non-Spanish speaker who wants to try this place. I know I want carne asada and spicy pork tacos, and I know what I want on them. Where do I stand and can I tell them "just cilantro and onions"? Hopefully not TOO silly a question!
