Internet - Wired v Wireless

    I'm working on the Hotel Resort Fee thread and it has been pointed out that I don't differentiate between wired & wireless internet.

    Can you help? What hotels have you stayed at that had wired internet (you need to plug in the Ethernet Cable)? Which ones had wireless where just just login via a website without the wire?

    MSS has wireless for a $11 per day fee.

    Downtown Grand has wireless included in the $11 daily resort fee.

    EDIT: Plaza also has wireless and it is free, or was a year ago.

    As of February stays: Excalibur had wired internet with a hard to reach ethernet cable; El Cortez had wireless, though it was very weak in the vintage rooms.

    Mirage has wireless and wired connections in their rooms.

    I appreciate the info on the resort fees :nworthy: but you may might want to keep the information at a high level rather than trying to list each possible feature included in the fee. You might find yourself in a myriad of updates in the ever changing world of resort fees.

    When it comes down to the narrow point of whether in-room internet access is included in a resort fee, I kind of agree that wireless and/or wired is a distinction that will drive you nuts trying to determine hotel by hotel.

    In any case, if you're using the hotel's service, wired or wireless, either way, you have to log in through their provider's portal (ie a web page) approximately every 24 hours.

    Flamingo has both, so if you only have like an iPad, you can get on their wireless, but if you brought your laptop or want to plug in your own wireless router, there is a cable as well.

    Personally I appreciate knowing if the internet is wired or wireless. I usually only travel with my ipad so wired internet is no use to me. Of course I could travel with a router but that's just another hassle if you're traveling light.

    Luxor as of May 2013, the bulk of their rooms were still the old wired internet. I actually brought a wireless router along with me, lighter than bringing my laptop. I used my iPad and iPhone in the room using the wireless router.

    They are slowly upgrading their rooms to wireless but I bet this will take a while. Bringing my own router isn't convenient, but at least it weighs less than my bulky laptop and I can pack the router in my suitcase.

    Pretty sure The D is too, I've seen their signal, but haven't stayed there.
