Can someone answer this question? Are comps based on where you stay or where your gambling the most ? Could I be staying at say NYNY but gamble in ARIAS casino and get offers from both? My last trip I stayed and gambled in one place for the bulk of the trip. Didn't think I spent a lot but upon checkout we were comped the whole weeks room rate and promised VIP check in for our next trip as well as a direct booking number. Is that fairly common ? Forgive me if its explained elsewhere or if its a dumb question. Thanks.
To get comped when you check out do you have to speak with a casino host or can the front desk person take care of any comps you may have earned?
I don't think there's any dumb questions here. We've all been there at some time. Comps are based on where you play. If you play at the casino you are staying at (and you play enough) you will get comps. You may also get comps at other casinos you play at as well - if you give them enough play. Of course, you have to be gambling while using your player's card to get the comps. The front desk person can't do anything about your bill. You can do any of the following to try to get your bill reduced based on play. If there is a host office, you can walk in and ask any host to review your play and see if they can reduce your charges. Or you can go to the player's club desk and ask them to review your play (probably the easiest way especially if you're not a High Roller). Or you can phone the front desk from your room and ask to be transfered to the hosts office. (This works well if the player's club has long lines.) If you are leaving early in the day, be sure to talk to someone the night before. Sometimes the lineup at the player's club is long in the morning. Also, keep in mind that if you booked your room through a package or booking agent (Expedia, booking.com, etc.), the casino can not take anything off your room charges. You must book direct with the casino for them to be able to comp you on the cost of your room. You could charge meals to your room though and they may be able to comp those off.
All comps are based on play. No comps for hotel spend.. other than earning some points in their program, which does translate into some smaller comps.
Its not a simple "yes or no" answer: There are two mutli hotel programs in Las Vegas, Total Rewards and MLife, and they both work differently. With Total Rewards where you gamble doesn't matter as much, as long as it is at one of their properties you will earn points and can use them upon checking out. When they send out offers and deals they will be based on what hotel(s) they think best matches your level of play. With MLife it is a little different in that they have general "corporate offers" which are based on your play as a whole. These offers are typically kind of weak and if you spread your play around these might be all you see. Beyond that each of the MLife properties also sends out their own offers. If you gamble heavily at one of their properties or concentrate all your play there then you will get much better offers from that property... but the downside is that you will get fewer and worse offers from the other properties. So you might have gotten some really good offers from NYNY and now they have kind of latched on to you... so that means you are going to keep getting good offers from NYNY but not so much in the way of offers from other properties. If you did as you asked about and took NYNY up on an offer but then put in all your play at Aria then when the next batch of offers comes out you will find that your offers from NYNY will have seemed to dry up, but you are probably now going to be getting some new offers from Aria. The "catch" there is: your level of play needs to match the new property or else you can really be screwing your offers up. IE: if your level of play is worth a lot to NYNY but not to Aria then you could go from getting 3-4 comp nights at NYNY with some free play and resort credit to getting 1 weeknight comped with discount rates at Aria, as an example.
