    My Trip Report

Okay this is gonna be quick I hope ...
Flight: was spirit out of Detroit nonstop it was super cheap <400 for wife and I .
Rental car: was budget booked through usaa member site < 90 for a peppy little Chevy sonic
Hotels: Silverton casino ....love this place the rooms are nice and the casino is always immaculate. Wife like that she gets a split of champagne when she orders it and they serve Starbucks coffee on the floor. I like the selection of aristocrat machines and the good players club. We stayed here just sat night and Sunday but it was great I got a host here Bruce, first time for a host . It was funny we had to get new slot cards our first night there ( we always lose them at home) and we chit chatted with the slot lady . Well fast forward to the next afternoon and I was talking to the slot club lady again and I was asking her how I can get a free hat or t shirt...answer you must win them ...but this "Bruce" guy was there and he over heard the slot lady saying something like "didn't you just get cards ( she looked at my balance) my goodness you have been busy".... We'll he introduced himself and we went to his office and he wiped all the charges off my room and told me to enjoy dinner and breakfast on him and any souvenirs we wanted at the gift shop...it was pretty awesome. Our rooms were already comped throug a mailer but he took off over 250 in various meal and gift charges. My wife was excited I told her about my new best friend Bruce and the freebies....my point balance was a little over 40000 points that first day. We will definitely be back soon

Caesars palace : stayed on a mailer here too , but wasn't impressed . Did the twenty dollar trick and was upgraded to the Augustus tower over looking hvac on a roof. Room was big but nothing particularly special. I had some free play and casino credit here . The free play was stretched out in low bets on buffalo and wonder four machines . The credit was spent at the bacchanal buffet. This is the most impressive buffet we have ever been to the shrimp are the size of a large thumb , the lamb chops are awesome the Chinese food was awesome the desserts were great . It was expensive 108$ but it literally kills all other buffets in Vegas that we have been to (most) . Must do it if you haven't already . Bring stretchy pants.

Fremont hotel : here on a mailer . We always stay here each trip at least for a couple days . It's the same as it has been for the last 15 years we've been visiting vegas. Rooms are nice and clean bathrooms are very small . People are great and buffet is solid year after year...also my wife like that they have a dunkin donuts for coffee.

Over all it was a nice trip we went to SAMs town on Monday for 20x points for buffalo machines . We tried palace stations buffet ....do not do this ! My wife and I walked around the buffet holding our empty plates for five minutes . Both us were thinking the same thing ...wtf . The place was a joke . Think elementary school cafeteria food . I feel bad making fun of the place because I'm sure the staff works hard cooking the food and stuff but the presentation was a disaster.
Palace Station gambling was good though we only played for an hour or so .
Main Street station buffet was great as always , though they changed the kind of hot wings they cook . Now they serve breaded ones like at KFC .:nono:
We used the spirit boarding pass thing at the d to get 100$ in match play chips which we played briefly on roulette + 75 . We like the second floor of the d they have three old top dollar quarter machines and an old pinball which payed out well. The el Cortez is one of our favorite casino to play in and I won a bit on buffalo machines on the west wall near the check in desk. They took out the poker room so we did not see Jackie this trip. The slot club lady says he still plays everyday but a private game our at southpoint.
Planning a new trip in May definitely won't stay at Caesars again and won't rent from budget again ...budget put a 200 hold on my card even though it was paid in advance and Caesars also put a 200 hold on my card. Bs . Silverton outs 100 and fremont puts 50 . Four queens puts 25. Oh yeah I checked into four queens just to get free money and food comps from a mailer didn't even go into the room .

Drink service at the fremont was awesome my new favorite is a piƱa colada they put whipped cream and a cherry on it. Looks much better than a kamikaze in a plastic cup. Drink service at silverton was very steady . Drink service at SAMs town eas sporadic. Drink service at Caesars was great . Drink service at four queens was great . Drink service at the Cortez was disappointing. Drink service at the d was great . Mermaids will no longer serve shots before dark so drinks there were gross.

We checked out the Grand , we liked the open ceiling look in the casino ,but the machines are all those new cabinet ones that all look the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. Didn't stay more than five minutes.casino was empty.

My wife loves this Mexican place across from the d , don't rescall the name but it was busy she got food there twice. I was being grumpy so I didn't eat anything.

    Slotzilla isn't open yet

The overhead light shows need to be upgraded to keep up with new tech. We still watched the show but it wasn't cool like I used to think it was.

We had a magic guy do tricks for us . I new how he was doing them so it wasn't that mind blowing but some of the people gathered around were blown away. It was fun seeing the looks on there faces.

What the hell happened to the back of the Vegas club... Mazes are cool if your like 5 years old ...

Oscar goodman must've gotten a kick back for letting them block the view from the plazas dome thing...that's all I can figure.

My wife killed em on nickel stp and spin poker .... She caught a royal and had a bunch of aces throughout our stay

    Nice report...
FWIW though...the $200 "holds" are pretty standard for Rental cars...the trick to getting around that is, use a CREDIT CARD (not a Visa Check/Debit card). They won't hold ANYTHING then.
Also, as far as hotel holds...the bigger the place (ie: Cesears) the bigger the hold...no way around that (and I spent 180 days in hotels in 2013)

I used regular credit card ... We usually use Alamo and they don't put holds on the rental ... It wasn't a big deal it just kinda annoyed me since I had already prepaid it.

Thanks for report! I have a close friend who lives south of the Strip and he used to frequent SouthPoint and The M... Now he swears by the Silverton! I gotta check it out again. He LOVES their sports book.
