I am sure this posted on here but could not find it.

I am always dreaming of hitting it big and buying something with the winnings. I am hopping to buy a new Omega or Rolex in April with some craps winnings. We can all dream right? We are building a house this summer so sure the DW can figure out how to spend the cash on that.

Just curious what others have bought with casino winnings?

My tradition is always to buy an Hermes tie after a winning trip at Bellagio. It's a nice treat but a small expense relative to what I win/lose. I have a decent collection now, nearly all bought at Bellagio. I have really cracked up the very serious, mostly Asian female staff by staggering in there in the morning after being up all night--- and making a purchase.

bought a furnace after one $6500 winning trip!

    $3700 purse for wife

biggest win ever I paid a quarterly estimated tax payment with.

yep, exciting stuff!!! (no wonder i barely get excited even when I do win)

probably the best thing i've bought for myself is a return trip to Vegas!!!

Well, when the time does come, buy a Rolex. They are more prestigious and they retain their value. Omega's have horrible resale value. They drop down in price by almost 50% as soon as you wear it. Only get an Omega if you decide to keep it forever and don't care about resale value.

Trust me, I'm a watch fanatic.

What are these "gambling winnings" of which you speak?

What's retail on one of their ties? I always end up with outlet Burberry ties :peace:

I have an Omega Speedmaster Professional and it has kept its value reasonably well.

I can't comment on the other Omega models, but I wouldn't go by the 50% drop statement you made.

First off, what are these "winnings" you all talk about?

As to a watch and retaining it's value. Do people really buy these and then sell them?

The one time (yes one) we brought home about what we took out there - I got a tattoo when I got home with some of the money.

My husband has always had a Mont Blanc pen in his sights, pending a big win but that hasn't happened yet!

I purchased my Omega Professional Chronograph in 2008 using half of the $4000 I won at PHO on a Double Diamond slot. It has been a great watch and keeps remarkable time for an automatic. Rolex's are helped on resale by the 8-10% price increase every year. I could sell my watch now for more than I paid since the new version from Omega has a MSRP of $4000 which increased the value of the older models.

It would have to be something BIG for us to consider a purchase of any import. If we won several hundred thou we might upgrade a car, but it would have to be many severals. Other stuff, if we want it, we buy it. I've never wanted a $5000 or $10,000 or $20,000 watch so wouldn't buy one even if someone handed me a bag of cash; my TAG came from Costco. lol

Good for those who want 'em, though. Different strokes make the painting of life interesting.

I once bought a sterling silver money clip at Tiffany's (can't remember if I was in Bellagio or Ceasars) at the end of a winning trip. It's a little golf club with the shaft curled around itself to make a clip. It was only a couple hundo - not that big a deal, but I'm really not a bling kind of guy.....

Yes. The second hand luxury watch market is enormous.

I recently sold an omega speed master for the same price as I paid for it as the model stays the same over the years but they are charging a grand more for it now.

    Really big? A new house.

    Sorta big? A new truck.

The usual win? A Big Mac. With fries!

I collect and trade watches as a hobby. Trust me, Omega's resale value is horrible on the 2nd hand market, right there along with Breitling.

    Exactly!
The only thing I can really say I "bought" with gambling money is...
One month, we went up to Reno to pickup our monthly freeplay ($400) and I picked it up, and promptly went over and bought a 50" LCD TV...best gambling-money purchase I ever bought.
