    OK we are going to do what I said I would NEVER do...bring our kids to Vegas.
    Staying at Tahiti Village in June, going to be mostly pool time and relaxing...but want to take the boys out for some of the sights.
    So far we plan on:
    a) Mac King
    b) Fremont Street

    What else are some "Kid Friendly" shows and attraction that are "relatively cheap" also.
    Thanks for any help
    Guy

    Tournament of Kings at Excal includes dinner too - and is very family-friendly.

    Would also recommend the M&M Museum and the movie (since you asked for inexpensive).

    I'd re-think Fremont Street if I were you .... there are some real weirdo's there now (night and day) especially among "the take your picture with me and tip me" group.

    Gals and guys in g-string like costumes, etc .... and of course, there's the usual group/s of panhandlers dressing and looking "homeless" even though I suspect some are making more $$$ a year panhandling than I do now and, maybe, even more than I did before I retired.

    If you go downtown, it's virtually impossible to "keep them away" from all this.

    Take teenagers? Maybe ... if you talk with them before you go. But 10 year olds? Despite the great overhead show/etc, I wouldn't have taken my children there when they were 10.

    I've taken my kids to all three of these 4:00 shows and would recommend them all:
    • "Popovich Pet Theater" at Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops (often available on Groupon)
    • "Jeff Civillico: Comedy in Action" at the Quad (Look for fliers for free kid's ticket with purchase of adult ticket)
    • "Laughternoon" at the D (pretty sure there are coupons in the visitor magazines for tickets for approximately $13/ea)

    Pinball hall of fame is great. Even if they've never played pinball before. They also have all the classic arcade video games like mario, pac man, etc. It's cheap fun that can last for hours. On Tropicana, opens at 11 am.

    I'll second the Popovich Pet show. I had a groupon for mine. I think it would be perfect for a 10 year old (or a 50 year old) :)

    If you are going to Mac King (and I highly recommend it), go to the Total Rewards booth at Harrahs and they'll give you a coupon(s). $14.95 for the show and it includes a drink (soft or hard). You don't even have to be a TR member, they didn't ask to see my card. Then you take the coupon to the Mac King box office and you're good to go. When we were there on a weekday afternoon there were plenty of seats. It's a fun show.

    Another vote for staying away from Fremont street. I wouldn't consider taking my 9 year old there. Even during the day you're going to find a lot of the "less desirables" hanging around.

    Took our kids when they were 8 and 10. Stayed at NYNY. They loved the movie at M&M world – and just loved the sights of Vegas. We walked around in and out of the hotels/casinos – they loved the forum shops and Miracle Mile – it was a good 3 days of sightseeing, shopping, walking and eating. They never complained that they were bored, they just enjoyed being there. If I had the chance to do it again – at that age – I would’ve taken them to a show. Possibly Mystere or Love even (they are Beatles fans, even young!) .

    Might take them back next year and do that…they are 13 and 15 now.

    My boys have enjoyed the following shows:

    Blue Man Group
    Love
    Ka
    Recycled Percussion (Living Social has had good deals for this)

    Pinball Hall of Fame - great way to kill an hour or two (their favourite)

    We've been taking our 6 and 9 yo to Vegas since they were born at least 3 times a year. Our typical visits would include.

    * Circus Circus.. Free shows and midway games
    * North outlet mall
    * Venetian... Gondola ride, some seasons there are performers along the mall area and ice skating during winter
    * Tahiti Village/Cancun/Manadalay Bay/Monte Carlo-- Summers- pools/wave pool/ and lazy river.
    * Caesars Palace ...Forum shops
    * Red Rocks.. spring and fall we have hiked on the easy trails.
    * Hoover Dam
    * Southpoint .. Bowling Alley and movie theater

    My kids love buffets so we usually go to one every trip... M Buffet, Paris, Baccanal, or Wynn.

    We also like to explore off strip restaurants.. Hawaiian, Japanese, Boba, Seafood around Spring Mtn and Decatur area.

    We usually stay at Aria, Tahiti Village, Mandalay, The Hotel, Palazzo, Southpoint, Monte Carlo, or Elara.

    For us, we find that there is enough to do for 2-3 day trips. Sometimes they kids just like hanging around the room and relaxing most of the morning. We find that there is enough things for us to do and they enjoy it every time.

    Hi,

    Here are some of my recommendations for shows for the kids:

    Nathan Burton inside Planet Hollywood is good. I am not sure if it is still there. There are usually coupons for it.

    A couple of the Cirque du Soleil shows allow children older than 5 to attend, including Mystere and Ka.

    Mac King is good, but now sure if they get some of the humor.

    For entertainment, both Excalibur and Circus Circus have games, etc. for the family.

    I have never seen it myself, but I know that Excalibur also has Tournament of Kings.

    I hope this helps. Cheers!

    Definitely Shark Reef and Lion/Dolphin Habitat. I went to Shark Reef this weekend, tons of kids. Also Adventure Dome at Circus Circus. Definitely recommend going to Red Rock Canyon, take the driving tour it's like 15 miles, and you can stop and look around, and I think you can hike..

    I haven't been, but Springs Preserve I've heard is pretty neat.

    Not sure I'd take them to Fremont Street.. but if you do go downtown, go to the Container Park in Downtown! They have a big treehouse for kids to play in.

    Our 11 year old LOVED Mac King

    He got to go onstage!
    Also enjoyed Nathan Burton, Terry Fator & Mystere. NYNY Roller Coaster & M&M store were big hits as well.
    And the pool is ALWAYS popular!

    My 7 year old won't shut up about Love, but I've exposed him to enough Beatles music that he was signing along half the time (we were in the front of a balcony, so we weren't annoying the people in front of us and he was on the isle.)

    Of course, it's a car thing, but the Hoover Dam is impressive for just about anyone over 4, and since they're over 8 they'll be able to go on the whole Dam tour (no, that joke never gets old.)

    While the Adventure Dome at Circus Circus might seem more aimed at littler kids, it's actually pretty good. Laser tag, 2 large roller coasters, etc. The rides on top of the Stratosphere were pretty cool too.

    Buffet wise, the Main Street Station buffet is good and inexpensive. Unlike some of the "upper end" buffets, it'll have plenty of foods the kids like. Depending on your parenting position, Freemont is kinda cool. I don't hide much "life" from my son, so while I distracted him from an "old" "Cupid" and a few other less than appealing picture people, it was fine. He really enjoyed the canopy show and the concerts.. (If you eat at MSS the parking there should be free.)

    Like others mentioned Container Park, I don't think people mentioned the preying mantis out front. So, if you go at night (they might do it during the day, but I'm sure it's more impressive after sun-down) the preying mantis has a pair of burning antennae. Now, this is just flames for the most part, but every once in a while, especially when there's unsuspecting people around, they hit the gas and big fire-balls flame up. Loudly. It's fun.

    Oh, for any rides you want to take 'em on, check height requirements. I don't want to presume height on age, some are 48" some are 52", and I'm sure that others are other heights. Just good to know these things before you get hopes up and trek out for them.
