CET? MLIFE? TROPICANA? Spread it around?

I haven't been to Vegas since 2012, and I've always done all of my gambling at a CET property. My comps have always been impressive (at least 5 free nights at any of their properties). This trip (11 days in June) I plan to use a different approach, and would appreciate your feedback.

If I gamble say $100.00 per day at CET, $100.00 per day at an MLife property, and $100.00 per day at Tropicana, would that buy me some decent room comps at each of those properties?

Do you stick with one property or spread your bankroll throughout the Strip? I appreciate your feedback!

Yeah if you bankroll is $300 a day stick to one property and make it CET because MLife will give you nothing for that little play, CET might give you a night or two if you play slots.

 

Nope. MLife will laugh at that. You might get a discount. However, if you can handle a bit of a downgrade at CET, you can play around on them and still get comps but the other casino companies that will consider comping you will be offstrip. If you visit a place like Olrleans twice in a trip, they will start sending you offers.

If you are looking for a variety then once again CET all the way because you can play any CET property, but with MLife you only get recognized at the one property you play.

 

How small of a player gets comped there? I would never play just for comps but I appreciate a bone thrown my way. Like a $10-$15 blackjack player? I get half decent discounts on the strip and I don't expect anything more. I'd rather pay for the room than risk 10 times that for the hell of it.

 

I probably played $100 through VP at CET and I can get rooms comped at Bally's, Flamingo, Rio, and Harrah's. I think there was even a couple days on the calendar where PH was comped.

I played a lot more than $100 at MLife and I can get $5 off a room at Excalibur.

I like MLife casinos a lot more but next trip my gambling will probably be heavily centered around the CET casinos.

 

Same here. I like to visit most of the Hotels on the Strip but i only use my gambling bankroll at CET. I get free rooms galore.

 

DO not split a $300 daily bankroll between groups on the same day. If you start at a CET property, play CET all day. If you want to try MLife, stick to the lower end properties like Ex & Lux, or even Monte Carlo. With MLife, it seems better to play at one property for the whole day, but they are so inconsistent it's almost not worth dealing with them at at all at that level (I have quit them other than when I have MyVegas awards to use). And if you find you like the Tropicana, that bankroll could well be enough to get future comps.

You might consider taking a day or 2 off from gambling (easier said than done I know, but with 11 days maybe an option) and increasing your bankroll for a couple of the other days.

 

Let's say you're not a member of MLife or Tropicana's player clubs, and are not staying at Tropicana or an MGM property on your next stay.

I think you'd be better off gambling $100 on one day at an MGM property and at Tropicana.

That will probably get you teaser offers from both (Tropicana I'm not really familiar with).

If you gamble $100 at a property on one day, they don't really know anything about you, and will be willing to send you an offer to find out.

But if you gamble $100 a day for 3 days - they think you're a $100 a day player.

 

I would say $25 blackjack. That's the level I play at and still only get offers from Luxor, Excal, Monte Carlo, NY-NY and sometimes MGM and Mirage. $10-15 blackjack might be enough for a night maybe two depending on hours played at Luxor, Excal, Monte Carlo and maybe NY-NY and possibly a little tier discount at the other properties.

 

You didn't say if you play slots or tables. If you play $100 in slots until it's gone, you may have $200 coin in or $2000 coin in. Comps are based on coin in, not money won or lost so your comps may vary depending on your luck.

At a minimum, I would do ALL your playing at CET props on the days you are comped. This will give you the best shot at future comps from CET. If you want to branch out, do it on the days you're paying for a room.

I should explain---I always exclusively play at a CET property, and I have no complaints about my comps (5 free nights plus huge room discounts). Caesars Palace always treats me more than fair (90% of my gambling is done there, remaining 10% at Harrahs, Flamingo, and Planet Hollywood).
This trip, I will be staying at Tropicana (I have no track record with them. Just am dead-set on staying there for some unexplainable reason...Need a change).
What I am thinking (subject to change), if I like the room and feel of Tropicana, I'll throw some play their ways in hopes of earning future room comps. Plus, throw some play CET's way. If I'm not "feeling" the Tropicana, I'll just throw my gambling CET's way exclusively...You folks haven't said anything to make me want to play at an MLife property.
In the future, maybe use Caesars Palace as my mid-Strip base and Tropicana as my southend base, I'm thinking (if I even like Tropicana this trip).
I don't know---a lot can change once I get there, right?

 

If I'm reading this correctly, you're saying you normally get 5 nights comped at Caesars with $300/day? O_O Apparently I need to switch properties.

 

CET and me

Yes, Caesars has always given me 5 free nights (I didn't make it to Vegas last year, and they'll comp me 5 nights this June trip, but I've decided to try Tropicana instead). I always manage an upgrade once I check in (sometimes by giving the clerk a $20.00 tip, sometimes simply by asking). During my October 2012 trip, I was comped a $600.00 a night room. I was there 7 nights. Like I said, CET has always been more than fair with me. I'm just itching to try somewhere different this trip (and Tropicana caught my eye).
By the way, I've had times at Caesars where I've gambled as little as $20.00 in a day. The October 2012 trip, I gambled less than $1,000.00 during those 7 days. The comps never ceased.

 

Are you a penny slot player? CET can be very good to people who play small amounts but lose reliably every day/trip.

 

Backstory

No, I've never played penny slots. I have played quarter and dollar slots. I play blackjack (my bet ranges from the minimum to a couple of hundred per hand). 2011-March 2013, I was a Platinum Total Rewards Member (having lost over $8,000 in one weekend in February 2011).
Oddly enough, Harrahs in Cherokee North Carolina will not comp me a room, but they will comp my sister and her husband (they gamble far less combined that I do). I gambled $2,000 over a 3 day period back in 2010 at Cherokee, winning a jackpot of $1,000 on a slot machine. I was staying elsewhere; still, they would not comp me a room.
I haven't been to Atlantic City since 2009, but the CET properties there will still comp me should I decide to fly up.
I had a hostess at Caesars when I was a Platinum Member (she left for a job offer in Florida before I ever met her face-to-face. She actually only booked one trip for me back in 2012. She told me Harrahs Cherokee definitely should comp me; she didn't understand what the problem was. The hostess who replaced her slowly faded from my picture. Just as well, she was useless; only called me once. I am without a hostess now).

Am thinking, since I am not staying at a CET property this trip, if I simply gamble $300.00 per day at Caesars, my current comps standing may increase for my next trip. Still, most people I talk to have no more than 3 comped nights at Caesars on average, so I cannot complain at all. And, every room they've put me in has been nice beyond words.
Maybe gamble at Caesars, use the points for the buffets (I love Harrahs' buffet), and crash and relax at the room at Tropicana.

 

I think you have everyone confused--this type of play is quite different from what you initially described.
