We got an "out of the blue" offer for a sky suite which we booked for our April trip. This is WAY above our play level but, if they're giving, we're taking. What do I need to know?

Be careful with expectations - it is likely a normal room, not a suite. I assume this based on your comments about it being "WAY" above your play level.

Having said that, you get the full Sky Suite services and amenities just like the bigger suites, so it is still awesome!!

From what I read, I thought they were all suites. I know we'll get the lowest level but I'm still excited. I did see that link but I guess I'm looking for more detailed info. When we called to get the res. I asked why were were given that offer and the reservationist said that they would like to give us the experience of staying there. Doesn't make sense to me but....... I'm sure this will be our one and only offer to stay there.

Regular Sky Suites are overrated and are just regular rooms in a different tower with access to more amenities.

    Vdara has better regular rooms.

With that being said, they are still nice.

Hopefully you actually get a suite.

Well one thing noticeably left out are the "non-suite" rooms that he's most likely getting.

Yeah someone mentioned those before, they aren't sky suites but connecting rooms for some of the suites. But if they told them they are in a Sky Suite those are the true 1-bedroom suites.

Sorry, this is incorrect. The entire "hotel within a hotel" is called Sky Suites, but there are non-suite rooms. You are correct that these same rooms are also used as connectors.

There is at least one other thread on the board by someone else who got an unexpected offer and confirmed it was a regular sized room (but with all the awesome Sky Suite services).

    :peace:

Ahh, I thought "Sky Suite" was also the proper name of the suites in addition to the name of that part of the hotel. But their proper name is actually "Aria Suite". My bad.

Thanks for the links to those threads, JD. I guess we should just call and see what kind of room we're getting. The reservationist didn't say anything about a limo but it sounds like everyone gets them whether it's a true suite or just a room.

Kikkiin', I was wondering about the other amenities offered, like the lounge and the offerings there, access to the casino, where we would park if we don't get/ choose to take the limo (we always rent a car)-stuff like that.

    Thanks all for the info.

I just stayed there in November. You park where everyone else parks at Aria. Valet is upstairs out back, pickup is downstairs (off Harmon). Self-park is in front off the strip.

The lounge is....ok. There is beer and wine. Not much of a lounge imo.

If you got this offer out of the blue and you take them up on it enjoy it while it lasts. Unless you drop some serious cash don't expect any comps beyond the room. Aria's hosts as of late have been very tight with comps with the exception of someone dropping LARGE amounts of cash.

I never see beer in the sky suites lounge, only wine in the evenings. Where do you get the beer? Thanks.

Personally its things like the lounge, the ambience of the public spaces, and the higher level of service that I really value of the Sky Suites. The suite itself is cool but I wouldn't care too much if I had a regular room there versus a suite. I had a Corner Suite in the regular hotel last trip and I would have traded that in for a regular room in the Sky Suites in a heartbeat.

The lounge is like an executive/concierge level lounge you see at other nice hotels. It has coffee, tea, water, sodas, juices, pellegrino, etc all day along with simple snacks like pastries, cookies, fruit, cheese and crackers, etc. In the evenings they serve wine. I don't remember beer either but perhaps they've added that now since Busyman stayed there more recently.

The big thing is that everything is calm. No crowds at the elevator, in the lounge, at reception, etc. Its a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle right outside its doors. You access the casino right near the high limit room and baccarat lounge.

Service is much better as well. Your limo driver will let them know you're on the way so when you get there they will have you all set up. They can take care of things you would normally have to do yourself. For instance if you booked an MGM show and have to pick up the tickets at the box office, you can just have them get the tickets for you ahead of time. They'll have your flight details so they will print out your boarding pass and give it to you.

There are lots of these things that may be small but they create the right environment of feeling you're getting personal service. For example it was raining one day while we were there and when they saw we were headed out they gave us an umbrella. This is common at good hotels but not common in Vegas, probably because there are just way too many people. But the Sky Suites feel more intimate.

I agree with the comment above 100%. We also used to get a corner suite in the regular tower and while the view was wonderful, the crowds to get on the elevator and the overall feel of the place was like any other hotel.

Sky Suites (whether a suite or a regular room and I've stayed in both) are just so relaxing......it's how I feel when I stay in a Tower Suite room at Wynn. I love getting off the elevator in the morning and getting a free cup of coffee and bottle of water without fighting the crowds at Jean Philippe or the Starbucks on the second level. Room service is faster also.

Enjoy your stay....Sky Suites is great.
