Seems like most casinos offer one or two non-smoking blackjack tables these days, but for the most part, there's smoking going on everywhere except for the resturaunts & elevators.

Obviously all shows and registration desks/lobby areas, gift shops and restrooms are all smoke free. (or at least supposed to be)

HVAC systems in major casinos are pretty darned effective now. When I was (much) younger, not only did more people smoke, but casinos had HVAC systems that did not deal well with it. I remember walking into casinos and seeing an actual cloud layer of smoke hanging in the air during busy times.

You may want to check out Aria. They installed a state-of-the-art HVAC system in it that moves air from the floor up - specifically to deal with any smoke.

It's required. You must smoke in the casino.

Some, like Boulder Station, require that you have emphysema, lung cancer or Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disorder before they will issue you a Players Card.

I had to limit my play there to real early morning but just walking to the restaurants was awful. I retired after 25 years on a Fire Department and took way too much smoke when air packs were neither required nor available. I get up and leave when smokers sit near me and gamble.

Nevada State statute 714C (4), Article 32, subsection III.

    Indeed...I'm quite familiar with it!

I will echo people's statements that while people still do smoke in the newer higher end properties it is barely noticeable. My local casino on the other hand is so bad I feel like I take a week off my life from spending 2 hours there.

I'm with you there. It's bad enough when they sit near me and smoke but when they start gambling that goes over the limit. The ultimate is when they start drinking as well.
Smoking, drinking, gambling. Vegas sure isn't what it used to be...or is it?:peace:

I'll never forget the time we took a first-time Vegas visitor into Paris Las Vegas shortly after it opened.

With her eyes filled with wonder, she commented, "Wow! This is incredible! They actually pump smoke into the casino so that you actually feel like you're in Europe!"

Same for me. Seems like I have to wash everything twice to get the stench out when at a local casino but in Vegas I really don't notice it unless the person next to me at a table is at it.

I wish. Coming from California we notice the smoke smell very clearly after returning home. But short of banning tobacco everywhere (please!) what are you gonna do? It's the price you pay for Vegas, and as noted, the casinos have taken great strides in turning over their air.

When we were smokers – a few years ago they had gotten rid of the smoking area in terminal D or McCarran, right near the top of the escalator (that goes down to the tram). That was a huge bummer for us – there was nothing like lighting up after a 3 hour flight before making our way to the tram. Kind of a tradition for us. We stopped smoking stinky cigarettes in 2012 and last trip I noticed it is there open again. But, now I vape so I can do that almost anywhere

I'll fully admit that I wish smoking was banned everywhere but.......

I can mostly deal with it in Vegas with the exception of sitting next to someone at a table who feels the need to blow it in your face. Even if they try to blow it away from me i'll deal with it and move if I really need to. I feel sorry for some of the poor dealers who have no choice but to stand there.

I'm glad that Vegas is still one place I can sit at the bar, play some VP and have a nice cigar or three....Although a local casino, Morongo, has events that are geared towards cigar smokers..so it's allowed there. Some local NA casinos it's a no-go. Never understand why, cigarette smoke is horrible smelling with all the chemicals, and cigars are wonderful with only premium tobacco...

And even though there is an ashtray at every machine, you are required to flick your ashes anywhere but into those ashtrays.

It's required that the guy next to you splitting 10's will be blowing smoke in your face.
