Been waiting for this for a long time.

Been going no where with my current manager for a couple years now so I have been courting other managers in my company for about a year and a half.

Had what I thought was an informal discussion with a manager and a discussion at - 4:30-5 meeting last night.

When I asked when they would be interviewing for the role we were talking about they replied this is as much of an interview ass I was going to have. If HR requires a formal interview that we would go get lunch.

Super excited about my new role and responsibilities and it should come with a nice raise about a month or two prior to a free vegas trip! Just wanted to share the latest with the board.

Congratulations! What did your current boss say when he heard about the promotion? I never worked in a big organization and I don't work in an office, so I'm curious as to how the politics plays out.

    Congrats!

People don't quit companies, they quit managers.

I'm in a company with 13k employees with about $3B in revenue annually. I have moved through four positions/promotions within the company in 7 years and my experience has been mixed when it comes to politics. Some managers without a doubt see it as a slight, some see it as a way to confirm that they lead well and that their people are promoted. Others, literally feel like bridges burn.

One manager of mine, who admittedly gave me a big break with a massive role and pay jump was ticked I opted to leave the department for a unique opportunity 4 years after I took the role under them. I was the first to ever leave that team, and the manager, looking back at it, had never dealt with it before and it showed. My relationship with her has never been the same, even in passing in the hallways.

Congrats, nice when things work out like that.

Not to long ago I was looking at other jobs, but nothing to serious. My current job caught wind of it and gave me a raise to stay, so that was pretty nice.

He was actually supportive for once. The hiring manager talked to him prior saying they wanted to hire me so he wasn't really blindsided too much.

I work at a medical device manufacturer. Previous role was in R and D. New role is in the Project Management group.

    Thanks to everyone else.
