Well, fairly big coin-in anyway. :) I'm thinking of putting $50,000 coin-in at VP on 1 day to earn Diamond status with CET. I understand the requirements, risks and benefits so no need for comments on that.:poke:

My play is likely to be at PH, Flamingo or Harrah's. The 2 options I envisage are -

    1. Stay at a non-CET hotel. Put in the play. Possibly approach a host for a $200 dinner comp for Eiffel Tower. Is that a feasible option? Would the host have to use/remove any RCs from my account?

    2. Book an inexpensive room at Bally's or Flamingo for 1 night. Probably not use the room but charge an evening meal and breakfast to it. See a host in the morning after the $50k coin-in and hopefully get the room charge (if any) and the 2 meals comped. Does that seem likely? Will the host insist on using RCs first (I could always burn them after earning)? Would this count as 2 days at CET, reducing my ADT?

The main aim of this venture would be to earn Diamond status, secondary aim to improve ADT and comped or discounted room rates. Of less importance are meal comps but it's nice to get something on top of $50 RCs for $50,000 coin-in on 1 day. Thanks.

CET hotels like to use the RC first.

Staying or just playing. Either way will be fine. Especially if you just play one day. You will have a great daily average that will catch their attention. Good luck.

Option 2 has a much better chance of working. They seem much more likely to comp off of room charges. Use your RC's before you ask for the room charges to be comped. If all you did on day 2 was eat breakfast and charged to the room without using your card for a 10% discount, then I think you would still have just 1 day of play shown. I will send you a PM with a third option that may work much better.

I thought of it differently than 2VegasNut. I wouldn't bother with option #2 if you're not using the room. At worst it will just reduce your available comp balance and at best it doesn't give you anything other than signing privileges. Plus if you do that you're not going to find out if those meals will be comped until after you've made the charges. At least with option #1 you will know ahead of time.

    A couple questions:

Do you have a history with CET and any hosts there?

Do you have a big current RC balance?

People have posted that their hosts comped them things without touching their RCs, but from what I've seen those have been people with host relationships and a history of bigger play at CET. If you don't have a bunch of RCs right now you can just burn up whatever you earn by buying something or converting to freeplay. Then without an RC balance the host can comp your meal assuming your theo warrants it.

Also keep in mind that CET reduced the rate at which you earn TCs on full-pay VP in Vegas. It's now $25 coin-in per point instead of $10. So you would have to do $125k coin-in to reach diamond if you're playing one of those.

Unless it has changed, the only machines that required $25 to earn a point are the $5 9/6 JOB.

It's always nice to have a room to take a break in the middle of the day.

Is this the Diamond in a Day plan? You can earn Diamond in two days and maintain your status until the end of March of next year. You also wouldn't have to risk as much if you're having a bad day. It could be an alternative plan.

Personally, I would do diamond in two days. Just get 2,500 tier credits each day and with the bonuses you will be diamond. My host at Caesars Palace always takes my RC's before comping the rest of the charges we put to the room but it doesn't bother me. If that would bother you, pay for a meal with your points before you check out and use them before seeing a host.

Last April, I put 19,000 tier credits on in 5 days (that's including 4 days with the 1,000 bonus and one day with the 5,000 bonus) and my host was ecstatic. He was walking towards us and while still about 15 feet away told us not to worry about any charges to the room, then sent us to Bacchanal buffet for brunch and sent us back to the airport in a limo.

I think you'll be fine, have a great trip!

The two day plan makes more sense - in most cases.

In January, I reached PIAD, and could have reached DIAD with 16K more points, playing 3 line $1 9/5 JOB in the PHo High Limit Room. Won a few hundred and also $4K more w/ a RSF. You have a five line $1 9/5 JOB option as well. You earn the same 1 point for $10 as other most CET VP machines (no $50 for 1) and JOB lowers the variance.

I agree w/ mgill's sentament, but I let the comps roll when I am running well. I set a stop loss and will quit the session or day after playing 4-5 bills in a multi-line JOB. Casinos want you to do the opposite and chase when you are running bad (which I have done in the past).

You can also get DITD (Diamond in two days) as the two PIADs add up to one DIAD. You'll have a lower ADT, but it may make sense to break out a bad first day session. If it were me, I would try for a one day hit unless I am running bad (then try again the second day).

If you are not using the room either way, I wouldn't book it.

Not to hijack the thread but your host was ecstatic about 19k Tier Credits in 5 days and sent both of you to the buffet (Over $100 COMP)?

Wow, I have to get me a host like yours!

Not quite your scenario, but very similar:

A few weeks ago we stayed 2 nights at Paris on a whim. Our typical coin-in with VP is 35-50K/day. This was our first play with CET.

Our first day we played 30K (short day) and the second was 50K (full day). All DDB. We play 4-8 hours a day. Technically, that would have been diamond in a day on the second day.

We were contacted by a host. All of our charges were comped, but they did wipe out our RCs first.

Looking online, we can book at any CET property, comped. (with the exception of NOBU Suites)

Not sure about having only one day of history, but I think your primary and secondary goals are easily achieved at this level. Most of the value will come on future trips, and of course, they will expect your continued play at that level.

All that said, this is just how we play. I'm not going to play more to get something I could have just paid for cheaper. My primary goal is to play, but I also like nice rooms and good food.

I just read that Diamond in a day doesn't expire at the end of the year anymore, it's just like getting it the old fashioned way now.

I think this is actually a sensible strategy and likely to be a case where "playing for comps" will yield a positive expectation for someone with little/no history at CET. Ideally you do not have a TR card at all or have not played on it at all in the past 2 years. If you have a history of smallish play, the comp offers generated will not be as juicy after you do this.

    My thoughts and comments:

As far as I know there is no full pay VP at Harrahs or Flamingo. The full pay machines at PH are $5 and require $25 coin in to earn one tier credit. SO, you will not be playing anything like an optimal machine while you do this. Just be aware. There are $1 8/5 bonus machines at the Rio which earn tier credits "normally" but there just isn't enough time in the day to put $50k through these machines.

To maximize your benefits longer term you should absolutely do this all in one day. $25k/day for 2 days yields the same tier points, the same expected loss, but half the ADT.

I would NOT check into a CET hotel, I would stay elsewhere. If you stay in (or check in to) a CET hotel, your one night "stay" will be considered to be 2 days in the system and will dilute your ADT. Some here will tell you that is not true if you don't play on the second day (I don't agree). In your case you will be asking for comps on day 2 and any comp redemption will absolutely count as a day in the system.

It is very hard to get CET hosts to comp you a meal on a discretionary basis without taking reward credits. Don't count on this happening. The theo you generate would seemingly be enough to justify the dinner comp, but CET looks for a (pretty high) ADT on a trip before they are willing to kick out any discretionary comps at all. I don't think this play will get you there. CET puts most of the value in their comp system in the upfront offer. If you make this play in one day, wait a couple of months and comped rooms at CP should be forthcoming along with free play offers and other goodies.

Interestingly, it is EASIER to get meals picked up by a host when you are staying at a CET prop rather than just playing for the day. I would forgo this in your case this time based on your stated goals.

The 10,000 tier credit bonus will not post until the next day. DO NOT run back to the hotel to check to make sure it happened or to get your new diamond card printed. This will, of course, generate a zero play day in the system and dilute your benefits. Check the CET website 2 days after the play to see the bonus tier credits and your diamond status reflected. Get the card printed on your next trip when you are staying at Caesars Palace.

Its $25 per point on all their full-pay machines at $5 or above (whether JOB, BP, etc).

That's because there is no longer a separate "Diamond in a Day" any more. As of this year they added a new bonus level if you earn 5000 TCs you get a 10,000 bonus. So that gives you the 15k for regular diamond in a single day anyway.

If you're just hopping into the property to play, like the OP is doing, it makes more sense to do it in one day instead of two days of 2500 each. Same coin-in but at least he might benefit from double the ADT.

Correct, now if you earn 5000 points in a day the 10,000 point bonus puts you at 15,000 points for the year and you are a "regular" diamond.

Great info Dankyone! I just hit diamond and was wondering about that. Also, since we play the same on most days, it seems like the bonus tier points will just keep coming every time we play? I wonder if they cap the bonus points at CET?

TUBBS--why not stay in a nicer room that you want to stay in?

They don't cap the bonuses--I'm surprised that they did not alter this program after 2013 but they must be happy with the results. It will be pretty easy even to get seven stars this year with the 10,000 point bonuses.

And that is why this board is so awesome. I learn new things every day :) I made poor assumptions that the OP did not have any history at CET.

I did just get an email back from my CET host which said..

"Even if he is coming in for drop in play I prefer to book him a room for 1 night so he can charge his food, shows, expenses to the room and be able to comp from there. We don't much write comps, so it's easier for me to comp from the room which if I am comping food, etc, I am sure the room will be comped too."
