So my question is simple. How much more difficult is it to get a drink ticket while betting on March Madness? Typically when I have bet on baseball & football; for $100 I could get a drink ticket or two. Is that simlar for March Madness?

I don't want to be that guy that goes in there expecting something & get the stinky eye :nono:.

    Thoughts?

I've found it depends where you play. We're usually at Red Rock, where if you ask, they give you a couple of tickets when you're making bets, usually at the $50 range.

I've heard of strip properties where they stick to the guidelines of needing to wager x amount to get a drink ticket.

Different properties have different limits but at $100 drink tickets will be given everywhere I have wagered. The individual you deal with also varies at each casino. I have bet $25 and walked away with 4 drink tickets even though the house rules were different.

It totally depends where you are betting, you can make a $25 bet at Flamingo and get a drink ticket or 2, you may have to ask for it though. Caesar's I have already been turned down with a $100 bet. Depends on the person at the betting window also. Some are vey friendly and some are crabby as hell. Doesn't hurt to ask no matter where you are though.

It's less stressful to either find a viewing party that includes seats with all you drink Coors, Bud, or Miller. Or

Find a place that you can reserve in or around the sports book that gets you some comfy couches/chairs and you're required to meet a minimum for the day and can pick what you want to drink.

At this stage most prime viewing parties and reserved sports book areas are sold, but you can look into some of the "Hoops on the Strip" events going on in the Total Rewards hotels and Pure, Wynn, and MGM still have couches to reserve on certain days that are in/around Sportsbooks. Pure is your best bet with only a $150 min for the day, Wynn and MGM require lines of credit to be open.

While I can't comment on Caesars because I rarely place bets there, I and family have zero issues getting drink tickets at other CET properties. We are usually placing bets for most of the day so getting up to $200+ in bets isn't difficult. Anything $100+ and I would expect tickets when you ask.

Even if you bet $20, just ask. Why are you concerned about the stinkeye?

Just realize that the books are expecting to make ~$5 off every $100 wagered on sports. So don't get upset at them when they say you need to bet more when asking for a ticket on a $20 bet that gets them a whole $1 profit.

TI last year was decent on drink tickets, but they had to go through a manager.

I try and avoid MLife properties just because of how different their policies seem to be. It goes from being told never on sports bets, only racing. To 1 ticket per $125 bet.

Like I said, I've been happy with CET so I tend to make my bets there. Paris, Ballys and Quad have all been great to me. I don't like PH only because it feels they have fewer people taking bets than other books and therefore longer lines.

Can't stand Caesars book for this reason.

Still annoyed at the cocktail waitress who charged me $20 for 2 drinks when I was watching football at Caesars years ago. There were no seats, so we were standing against the back rail with a fistful of bets in hand. Mostly annoyed that when I ordered them, she announced to the world, "you'll need to pay for them!!"

Needless to say, I had exact change.

By the way, there's something quite sexy about the number of people on this thread with 22-24 day countdown calendars. :)

There are so many of us who will be there for opening week/weekend.
And it can't get here soon enough for me :)
All it takes is one MM trip and you're addicted for life!

I'm trying to decide if it is bad if I don't know. :)

    I think #6 for me.

I even drove to Shreveport(5 hours) to take off the edge last weekend and that did not work at all....

    Sad...

Remember the good old days when you just sat down in the sports book and got served drinks? We used to make the Mirage our home for every big time sporting event, never had to worry about "drink tickets" (ugh, it sucks to even type those words), and as long as you gave the cocktail waitress tips (usually started at a couple dollars a drink and by the end of the day, if the games were going well, she was easily getting more as a tip than the drink would cost at a club) she would keep them coming fast and cold.

Now, you sit down at the Mirage sports book, and there's a guy sleeping on one chair, no cocktail waitresses to be found, and unless you are betting the ponies, you aren't getting a waitress at all. This happened the last couple times I went there, so needless to say, I haven't been back since.

    Tickets suck.

    Drink Tickets

Rio - Generally $40 sports bet with get you a ticket or two. I think it's around $10-20 for a horse bet.

Gold Coast - $20 sports bet

Palms (or any Cantor book) - Around $500 sports bet will get you a 2 drink, $20 comp IF the manager is feeling generous and wants to feel like he is doing you a favor. Also, there is NO waitress service. You'll have to go to the sports bar yourself. Remember - the Cantor sportsbooks are NOT part of the hotel, waitresses, bartenders, or other staff.

I agree with you 100%. Can't wait. I get excited to hear about newbies to MM. I really don't think any of them understand the atmosphere when the games come down to the wire on their spreads. Hope to see some of you around...look for the big crowd of Arizona Wildcat fans and you will probably find me. I'll get you a beer! Let the Madness begin and Bear Down!:peace:

Even for hardcore gamblers, it's difficult to explain the feeling when your team hits that pointless 3 at the buzzer to cover.

The other side of that being my buddy losing his large 2nd half bet a couple of years ago on that same pointless 3, in a 15 point game.

It's the bet within the game that makes it incredible.

What do you think of moneyline bets for the NCAA? i was thinking of trying to zero in on the best upsets and moneyline those. Obviously i'll bet on other games using the spread but thinking on where best to lay the most units. As we all know there are always some glowing upsets that are just there in the first round or two. If you can have 3 or 4 of those in the first round and hit on 75% i was thinking this would be a good strategy. Just curious as to others approach on betting the games.

Absolutely!! If you feel strongly about games with single digit spreads, consider money line. If I play underdog ML's, I usually back it up with bets ATS or even more conservative multiple team teasers.

I avoid multiple team favorite ML's. It can be tough to find favorite value.

Makes sense on backing up the bets. Thanks for the advice!
