Hi Everyone. New to the board, but certainly not to vegas. March 19th, will be my 27th trip to vegas. Crazy as this sounds, up until my last trip I was a strictly strip guy. Last March I stayed at MSS and spent my entire stay downtown. I really feel I am already hooked on downtown. Sure, you dont have the swank/amenities, etc...but the overall vibe was something I was really getting use to, and I think as I age, its more my style!

Anyways, this trip im staying at the Gold Nugget for two nights, then two free nights at the Golden Gate. Any suggestions for the best places to watch the tourney downtown. If i remember correctly, the sportsbook downtown are a bit weak compared to the strip..Im ok with that, but curious if there is a special "spot" ya'll might recommend??

    Thanks!

In the Nugget they open up a room (I think it is called THE GRAND) but you need to get there very early to get a seat on that week of the tourney.

You may want to consider checking out The D. They open up a ballroom on the hotel's 12th Floor for a viewing party. http://www.thed.com/promotions/
And if you earn a few points or buy in for a few bucks at a table at Golden Gate, you'll get a free t-shirt.

The El Cortez has a viewing party in their Fiesta Room as well. I haven't been to the Fiesta Room, so I don't know what the vibe is like.

Plaza sports book is the biggest downtown and newly renovated. I also hear they will have the beer garden TVs on and the garden open during march madness.

I'll be in town the same time.

Thursday we are going to LVH for their free event.

    Downtown on Friday

EL CORTEZ – Free party in the Fiesta Room. $1 hot dogs and Budweiser, $2 Brats. Worth the visit to this classic Downtown casino if you want to do March Madness on the cheap.

THE D – Free party with drink and food (Coneys!) specials in the Detroit Ballroom. Blackjack and craps tables as well as a WIlliam Hill betting station. The Longbar on the casino floor is also a great spot for watching sports at The D if you can find a seat.

The Nugget is nice, but a tad more pricey, if you are on a budget. They do have free drwaing giveaways during the games.
