If everything in Vegas were three times more expensive right now, would you still go?

I'm not doubting it, we just live in totally different worlds.

I wouldn't go once or twice a year like I do now....it would be more like once every five years. We have some pretty nice casinos near where I live that I could get my slot fix at.

Yes but probably only on very special occasions such as our 30th wedding anniversary (2016), 35th etc. Our first trip was on our 25th.

Hell, Vegas is too expensive as it is!
I only go when I have a room comp.
I could never afford a weekday trip (work comes first) so it has to be on the weekend, and weekends are $$$.

    I wouldn't go.

I would probably make the trip every 5 years too.

I believe that's called Holiday week between Christmas through New Years. Everything is more expensive during that time. Stayed in Vegas once during that time period to see the Fireworks on the strip, and thought is would be cool to see all the crazies come out. Like an idiot, went back 2 years later. Never again though, promise. Really. no.

I would go. That means I need to win more money to cover the trip.

There is no place to gamble like Vegas, at least I haven't experienced better.

    Of course NOT.

I'd be a fool to go if costs tripled.

Funny enough, I'm staying at the Flamingo and am glad me and all my friends booked already.

Cost have tripled for the same nights.

I'm not going to pay any and everything if costs go up all of a sudden.

"Hey this hotel cost $500 for those nights last month but with no special event in town we are going to charge you $1500 now so pay."

    Umm no, f**k you. kthxbye

I don't go to the Strip now as it is with the overinflated prices on just about everything. At 3x the price citywide, I would probably go every five years to remind myself why I stopped going.

Thats a big negative. Even if it was double what it is now, I wouldnt go.

People go for different things such as nightlife, dining, gambling, shows.

    1. Only reason I do the nightlife in Vegas is that it is something out of the norm. I can and do Hollywood/DTLA nightlife on a weekly basis and its just fine for me. The same DJs and concerts come into Socal weekly if not more than what Vegas actually has on most months. So I wouldnt need to go to Vegas for that fix.

    2. Dining. The appeal to vegas are the deals and options. If dining cost more and there were limited deals, its easy to just eat back at home where there are plenty of other restaurants that are just as good.

    3. Gambling.. if everything else cost more to go to Vegas just to gamble, then we all look at other options to gamble. You're trying to limit your loss before you even get there. If you know you're already going to spend a few hundred dollars just to stay and eat there, you might as well just gamble at other places such as indian reservations, or local casinos.

    4. Shows.. same as nightlife. No need to go to vegas to watch these Cirque shows, concerts and comedy shows. Theres plenty of those to go around everywhere else.

Bargain and bang for your buck is what Vegas is known for. If I'm going to spend $2000 for a week to stay in Vegas, I'd rather spend the same amount of money and travel to Carribean, Hawaii or other parts of the country.
As someone said here.. its all about Value.

    Short answer, yep.

Slightly longer answer, I would continue to go the same once or twice a year that I do now, and my employer would presumably continue to cover the expense. :^)

Going to Las Vegas has always been about value. Compared to other travel destination Vegas can be a bargain. Well, it used to be. Not so much anymore.
Take away the value and Vegas has no value to me. No, I would not go.

I love me some Vegas. There's very few places i'd rather go but at triple the price?!? HECK NO!

Double might have been a more interesting question. You'd probably get quite a few more people to say yes.

I thought most Vegas prices are ALREADY 3x more expensive than the "real world"!

Simply put, I'd either not go or go very rarely. Too many other places to spend your money (and gamble!).

Nope. That would price everything out of our comfort zone. Too many Indian casinos nearby to take up the gambling slack, and we'd just ramp up the number of shows we see in L.A.

I mean The Country Club at Wynn is nice, but it isn't $1000/meal nice.

    Edited to add wife's response:

    Well...the hub wouldn't go but I would.
It'd cut the price in half if he stays home. :wink2:
Vegas is one of the best cities to visit for a solo trip.
I"d find a bargain and go enjoy myself on a lower budget is all.

I would probably revert to my old schedule of Vegas. I had a 10 year gap between trips 1 and 2. Trips 2 through 9 in the last 2.5 years.

We try to stay at the nicest place with the best rate. While those rates fit into our budget, I still to searches on sites like expedia and say to my wife: "are you sure the bellagio is worth $200 pp more than the Mirage or MGM?" Also, there are plenty of good cheap restaurant instead of the higher end ones.

But to answer the question, probably, but not as often. Still would love the weather. Also, sitting at pool and sight seeing is free.

I often thought about doing a trip with "on the cheap" being the main goal. Cheapest decent hotel, coupons to eat, $5 tables only.

I always tell friends, Vegas can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.

Probably not. I can't do a lot about the outrageous airfare but one of the many things that are attractive about LV is that a significant chunk of our other expenses are fairly low. Rooms are pretty much free and our food expenses are subsidized to a great extent. Triple those costs and an LV trip suddenly becomes so expensive that we would consider if it was worth it.

    Everything?!?!!?!
That means a $1200 air fair will cost $3600?????
You can stop right there. That alone will stop me or I will have to go solo and leave my wife at home. Unfortunately if only one person can go to Vegas my wife will insist it is her.
