There are 2/1 coupons in the ACG book and the LVA book.

If you are drinking the 107 lounge does 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour and gets you a free ride up. Once up there it's one flight of stairs to the rides so it saves you the elevator fee.

107 begins at 4:30, and gives free access above.

What kind of bar is the 107? upscale? normal? How much would a mixed drink cost (by proxy 2 drinks) during happy hour.

I was in shorts and a tshirt in October when we went. Had an almost vintage Vegas feel with outdated design. Drinks were about $12 each but with the 2-1 it made it worth it. Martini's and specialty mixed drinks like most every bar in Vegas.

The best part is the bar doesn't rotate like Top of the World restaurant so we had a strip view the entire time.

    Bar still open?

We used to stay at The STRAT frequently, as we were comped. Sometimes on a low casino rate.

We would go through the VIP line to the tower and they immediately whisk you up to the bar. The drinks were awesome, as were the bartenders. I still have a couple of glasses they gave us for the asking as a souvenir.

    Question.

Is this still the case? I'd like not to drive and park over there and be denied this service. It was the bomb!

Then of course the stairs up to the observation decks. Best view in Vegas Bar None!

The lower part of the bar (tables) does spin a 360. Way cool but I stay at the bar.

Do they still have the security check point to up top. last time we went was 2002 it took about 1 1/2 hours to go thru. Haven't been since.
I remember when it was just concrete stubs for years.

Yes, there is a security checkpoint, but it isn't that bad. You said you were through in 2002, that leads me to believe it was more scrutinized since 9/11 just happened.

Tower admission is free to hotel guests. Room keys are sold on ebay cheap. I didn't really just tell you that.

They change the key designs periodically. If you buy a key that is a prior design, it will be an interesting discussion with the attendant as to how you have a key so old yet are supposedly staying in the hotel currently.

$14 for two during happy hour. It's a nice place to hang out with a nice view. The bartenders were not very good. Looking for something different, but they have no signature drinks, they barely can make a 7and7. Finally I asked what's the best drink he makes and he made me some mango/vodka thingy that wasn't much more than screwdriver. I even had to ask him if that drink should have been shaken, which reminded him it should, so he took the drinks poured them back into a shaker then repoured. So don't expect much more than him opening a bottle of beer for ya. But the place was nice, semi informal(a bit nicer than tank/shorts/sandals), with a great view, definitely worth the trip up.

And yes the easiest way to get to the observation deck is go up the restaurant/107th lounge elevator free of charge at happy hour (no cover) then just get off and wait for the up elevator to the deck. No line, no security check, no fee, no nuthin'.

The security guy buy the entrance put us on the VIP elevator when we asked (about 6.30pm) on a weekday and we went straight up.

Where are the stairs to 109 though? We had to wait for the elevator again.
