Table Games Craps table payout, we miss Grandpa

My grandpa taught me and my brothers how to play craps on his little 3x2 home table. With pennies. He looked like a bald Colonel Sanders and he always bent over so we could kiss him on the top of his head. Each one of his 25 grandchildren KNEW that we were his favorite.

He would meet my older brother in Reno every now and then for some low stakes dice. Now that Grandpa is gone, my older brother is very nostalgic when it comes to playing craps. He really wants to find a table that pays triple on the 2 and 12 field bet even though he never plays the field. Grandpa told him they are the best tables, so those are the tables he wants.

He will be staying at the D but will make a trip to the Strip to find the 3x table if he needs to. Which casinos have this payout?

The good news is that you're staying downtown and versus the strip you're in the right place! All had triple odds as recently as 2009 but it's tough to know 100% as of today. You have a good shot even at The D itself but who knows with the recent remodel.

El Cortez and Fremont and MSS are your best bets IMHO, but I'd be surprised and disappointed if any actually pay 2x. That's just amateur hour honestly downtown, and now I'll have to keep an eye out! I'm heading on the trip so if I notice anything to CONFIRM i will let you know.

He won't find one. Such odds would have a zero percent house edge. I suspect you're referring to triple odds for the twelve and double odds for the two.

I agree he won't find one but such and an animal has been known to exist rarely. Some places offer "specials" on their craps layout and the 3x / 3x is one such special. Very rare and I've only heard of it, never seen it with my own eyes.

My local casino pays 2 to 1 on place bets for 4 and 10 and have been offering this for as long as I can remember. That's right, a zero house edge bet in a casino!

 

Just want to make sure I understand your statement on the 4 and 10.
All casinos pay true odds on buy bets for the 4 and 10 which as you know, happens to be 2 to 1.
There is a 5% commission always charged on that so for a $50 buy you pay $2.
In all strip casinos you pay only if it hits. In most other locales including Atlantic City and most local casinos(not all),you pay when you make the wager.

So are you saying no commission on the 4 and 10?

Woodsie, I am going to hijack the question. I don't know where Woodsie resides, however, there are at least two casinos in NM that do this, and a third that I am aware of (but at higher rates.) One may "Buy the Four or Ten" for $5 and, should it come in will be paid 2 - 1 ($10). Yep, no juice in the game. The third will do so, also, but the minimum bet to obtain this "no juice" game is $20 (too rich for me.) Also, at least one of the previous two casinos has what the OP is requesting. A "no juice" Field bet. Note, the pit gets a bit agitated if all one does is bet the "no juice" bets. It usually helps to put a bit down for the dealers ($1 or so) and let them work along-side your bets.

Placing 4/10 pays 9 to 5, so I personally don't see the need to buy it. Close enough to true odds for me. The (lower) payouts on the field bets 2 and 12 is what gives the house an extra edge. The house edge is generally so small anyway that they will take anything they can get.

You should think again. You can buy the 4 for $20 and pay a $1 commission, thus winning $39 on $20. If you just place it you only win $36 on $20. Those 3 dollars can add up. Just buy it if they'll let you, (many places won't let you buy it for less than $20).

It's lame that so many tables only pay double on the 12 AND 2 on the Field. They totally can afford to pay triple on one of them.

 

You can actually do better than that. Most casinos will only charge you $1 for anything less than $40, so you can virtually cut the commission in half.
