I'm playing at level 159 and have about 190,000 accumulated points. So if I am not going to used them for rooms, I probably should stop playing much as I don't expect to see Vegas before July at the earliest.
I don't buy chips. I don't play for the entertainment value of the games. I will only redeem 3 rewards on my next trip.

25% is all I see in my posted rewards. Those deals don't seem of much value, but just comparable to strip deals I see advertised all the time. I can't see myself using them; in fact they seem to be just a fake reduction if the percentage is figured on inflated rack rates.

I read of people getting nights free. And something called "bonus" nights.
I only stay on the strip if it is free because I can stay downtown and out Boulder and average under $30, fees and taxes included. However, for a totally free night I might be willing to book a night just for the change in location, even if that doubled what I usually spend.

I also read mixed bits on resort fees. Are there any My Vegas free rooms or is it more tricky advertising? Is $28 the new free?

I generally go solo too. It seems getting harder and harder to find any deals on the MyVegas rewards in my menu for a frugal solo guy. Last trip my wife went along and in just three days we enjoyed $700 of value, between her account and mine, in shows and buffets, but she is not planning a return for a while and my poker buddy is not going until next fall. So even 2 for 1 buffets are not worth much to me.

Should I bother to continue to play this game and accumulate more points than I need for 3 rewards? Is there a source of rewards that I just don't understand? Are folks who get these free nights those who have purchased chip packages, and so put themselves in a better category of offers.

Is it time for me to quit thinking about MyVegas and begin thinking about Laughlin?

You probably need to contact their support as it seems like it has you associated with living in/around Vegas for some reason. Locals don't show the "free" rooms in their rewards list. You didn't happen to redeem for any rewards while you were in Vegas?

And I find it's hit or miss for the charging of the resort fees on these free rooms. Sometimes they charge you, sometimes they don't. I just go into it expecting to pay the fee (since it's advertised as being there when you redeem.) But, the way I see it, $28 to stay at Mirage is a bargain any day.

Thanks Scott, I'll try that. Do you have a phone number? I had phone numbers around the time I redeemed, but I don't now.

I did redeem when I was last in Vegas on my site and my wife's and the time before that I got $4 rewards with a $10 chip buy. I don't know how they would have me as a local.
$28 is a decent price, but since I don't stay much on the strip, it is not competitive with what I pay for rooms in Vegas. Right now I can get 5 nights at Sam's Town for $21 with fees for the nights I pay for.
I know for folks who are used to paying $100 a night, the resort fee means nothing. But when I do the math, that $28 adds 100% to my average room rate. I'm not saying anyone else should think this way. But it is the way I think, and I have to balance it with how much pleasure I might get from the variety of location and then how much of my time it is worth to play the game.

It was well worth it to see Bellagio's O twice.
    And to see Zumanity.
And the upscale buffets at Aria and Bellagio were fine. The first time I redeemed those they were free; now they are 2 for 1.

When I go with my wife, then we go upscale. When I go solo, I don't need fancy. So that changes the value too. She is probably not going on the next trip. In that case I have plenty of free chips to cover what little I can find for solo travel and maybe I'll not bother with the game.

And I don't fault them. I expected as the game became more popular that value would decrease. And that is yet another concern. If current offerings are next to worthless for me, by the time I actually go, the rewards may have eroded to totally worthless.

I would at least continue the daily spin. Those chips will come in handy in the future when your wife comes along again! myvegas will stick around.

There are still some completely free buffet offers, Dewey. Like it was said above, it appears that due to redeeming while you were in Vegas, you're only seeing the rewards that are available to Las Vegas residents. Once you get that limitation removed from your account, you will see the room rewards and free buffet rewards, etc. I'd start here to access MyVegas support.

I gave up waiting on MLife to send me anything half decent so I just booked 3 free reward nights through MyVegas. One night at MGM and 2 at NYNY...combining Weekday and weekend rewards for a Wed/Thurs/Fri stay. They asked for my zip code while making the reservations so I think that is also how they check that you are or aren't a local.

I've heard from others who have stayed on MyVegas free nights that they end up waiving the resort fees - but I guess I will wait and find out.

You don't see room rewards as an option? Yea, I'd call them or submit a ticket here.

    http://myvegas.zendesk.com/home

they must of flagged you as local or something by mistake.

    There are 4 room options
    Weekday Room
    Weekend Room
    Weekday Bonus Room
    Weekend Bonus Room

The bonus rooms are the cheapest point wise... you have to read all the disclaimers carefully. Some allow you to "buy" 3 nights, most of them only allow 1 night.

Yes, you do have to pay the resort fee.

Also the higher end resorts are expensive, a weekend night at NY NY is 145,000 chips for ONE night. But a weeknight at Luxor is 18,000.. there can be a huge difference in price. Personally, I think you are better off buying your rooms, using your chips for other things. I mean you can buy a midweek room at Luxor for $30... why play hundreds of hours of this game for that?

Well, I don't see anything like what you list. So, thanks. I am thinking everyone must be right and I'm twisted in their records. I wrote them. We'll see what happens.
I don't mind playing if I can actually use the points for something. I don't pay any attention to the game, but just have it running on a separate session while I check email or facebook or do some writing. Collecting chips takes more of my attention than playing. And gradually the benefits just creep up. However, with what I see just now, I could not spend all the points I have in just three rewards.
Thanks for so much attention to this. I'll post what happens if they respond. Just knowing that I should be eligible for more than I am seeing is helpful and keeps me in the game.

Thanks again for the advice. After I sent in an email, they put up the free rooms and buffets I was missing. Nice. Guess I'll have to keep playing.
