We've (husband and I) been very generously given a gift of 4 days at the Wynn next (Fri thru Mon), along with 6 buffets. Yes, that is a lot of buffets lol. We are definitely not the usual Wynn clientele. We are the stay at The Orleans, eat meals at Ellis Island, AZ Charlies, Orleans Buffet, bring a cooler for drinks and leftover types.
I am wondering what to expect. Is there a place to get coffee close by the rooms? I am both excited and anxious, and any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you'll be pleasantly pampered and will probably have a wonderful time. I don't see this as a case Ma & Pa Kettle take on the Ritz... c'mon, you've got many Vegas visits under your belt and surely know your way around a casino. A quarter slot machine is a quarter slot machine at Wynn or AZ Charlies. I think you'll really enjoy the extra things that are done at Wynn and the attention to detail. If you're a bar-top VP player (like me) though, don't expect a comped drink when playing at the bar... they don't do that at either Wynn or Encore. For sure your room-service will be more expensive, as will most anything else you do at the property, but walking the grounds and enjoying the beautiful landscaping and appointments is free and worth it and... gaming is gaming.

Frankly, I'd be more worried if you were someone who'd only stayed at Wynn and was given a 4 night stay at AZ Charlies. Enjoy this special treat you've been given, you'll have fun!

Good for you on staying at the Wynn. Just walking around at the Wynn makes me happy.

    The Cafe at Wynn

There is a 'casual' cafe (called The Drugstore Cafe) close to the elevators. Come out of the elevators, turn right, walk past the sundries shop and it's on the corner of the casino and the walkway to Encore.

Order at the counter and take to one of the tables or back to your room. Reasonable prices for Wynn. Does great food and fresh juices also.

I'll be staying at Wynn for the second time very soon. I'm definitely more of a downtown person, but I also like to spend a night or two on the quieter northern end of the Strip.

I know that lots of guests of the Wynn/Encore grab some fast food at Fashion Show Mall opposite when they don't feel like spending too much or dressing to the nines.

One important note - Wynn and Encore have a few nightclubs that produce an extraordinary amount of noise which can be heard from the rooms (even high floors). When you check in, ask for a 'quiet room'. They will know what you mean, as they get loads of complaints from guests who haven't had any sleep!

    Have a great time.

There is a place (Drugstore Café, I believe it’s called) near the elevators where you can get coffee, pastries, salads and sandwiches etc.

What should you expect? I think the others have given some good advice. But I’ll add my two cents.

    The bad…

The prices. Things are more expensive at Wynn than they are in most other casinos. Though, I think if you’re familiar with “strip prices” in general, you won’t be too shocked at the prices at Wynn. Also, table minimums will certainly be higher than they are at off-strip or downtown properties. But I wouldn’t say that they are out of line with other strip properties.

The aforementioned “no comped drinks at bar-top VP” policy. This one does sting a bit. But, they still comp drinks throughout the rest of the casino. And those drinks are usually very well made and in big glasses. The only “exception” I’ve seen has been that they’ll refill your coffee for free at the bar. :rolleyes2:

    The good…

The rooms are huge and very comfortable – big bathroom with all the expected amenities, nice sitting area with a couch and coffee table and an incredibly comfy bed. The floor-to-ceiling windows give you a great view of either the north strip area or the Wynn golf course (I’ve seen the strip enough; I prefer the golf course view).

There are some great restaurants. Tableau, Society Café (Encore) and Terrace Point Café (Tableau is a bit pricier than the other two) are good for breakfast. SW for a fantastic steak. La Cave is a small plates place that also has great wine and beer selections and good cocktails. Wazuzu (Encore) and Red 8 are good and reasonably priced Asian places. And Zoozacrackers for a quick deli sandwich or if you’re watching a game in the sportsbook.

The property is beautiful. Make sure to do some “exploring” – grab a drink and aimlessly walk around for a while. There’s a lot of “whimsy” throughout the place and the attention to detail is incredible. You should also go to Parasol Down one night to have a fancy cocktail and watch the Lake of Dreams show. It isn’t life-changing or anything, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re staying there.

The people are great. I honestly don’t remember ever encountering a rude, unhelpful or surly employee at either Wynn or Encore. Everyone is friendly and helpful and most will remember your name after one or two encounters.

    Best of luck and enjoy!

There us a Walgreens attached to the Palazzo which is just a short walk from Wynn. They have a refrigerated section for sandwiches and fast stuff like yogurt, snacks etc if you are just looking for quick grab and go.

    Wynn help

Thank you all for the quick and helpful responses. I know we are very fortunate to get this gift. I am very excited to stay there now with a few hints under my sleeve. I have never even been inside the Wynn. The closest we got was the Palazzo to see the Jersey Boys when they were there.

    meme57,

For casual dining, my top three spots at Wynn are:
ZooZaCrackers - just outside the Sports Book (White arrow on map)
Drugstore Cafe - Corner near elevators, Poker room.. (Green arrow)
The Buffet - just right of main cage (Purple arrow)

    see attached map

You will enjoy your stay. We always find it very nice but not stuffy. Sometimes the line is long at the coffee shop. If the line is long go to the bar (left out of the elevator) and buy it there. I have bought a cappuccino there that was as good as the coffee shop.

Wynn is my happy place hotel.....best service and rooms on the strip! You will have a glorious time.

A couple of other tips. If the lines at the Drugstore cafe are too long for coffee, take a left out of the elevators and walk over to the Tower Suites area. They sell coffee, juices and pastries in the morning and it's a bar at night with great wine by the glass selections.

Also, if you have breakfast at Tableau (and I highly recommend it), they will give you a go cup of coffee when you leave for free. It's about the only thing that is free at Wynn. LOL

Be sure and check out the carousel horses and hot air balloon in the main lobby area of Wynn right now.....they are spectactular.

And, have a drink at Parasol down and watch the shows on the Lake of Dreams each night every 30 minutes. You can get a patio table outside......the frog is my favorite (he sings What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong), but the one with the hibiscus is pretty great too.

thecarve gave you great food options.

If you must have a Starbucks for breakfast, you can walk across the street to the Fashion Show mall as there is an outside Starbucks right there.....will take you less than 10 minutes.

Have a great time.....I'll be checking into my room about this time next week!

I’m so jealous! Are you doing that slot tournament? (Good luck!) Every damn time I get an invite to one of the big money tourneys I always have a trip planned for the next week or two and can't make it.

I guess I can’t complain though, I’ll be there three weeks from tomorrow!

Also, good call on the Tower Suites bar. Even if you don’t want to do it for breakfast/coffee, it is a nice place to take a little break from all the noise and action and relax for a minute.

Couldn't do the slot tourney even though I really wanted to. We are in the process of selling our Texas house and moving to Nevada and I have a bazillion things going on right now.....but not so many that I wasn't going to celebrate my birthday at Wynn. :)

So, it will be dinner on Sunday night at SW......and a bkfst at Tableau.......and some wine at the wine bar and lots of vid poker and that stupid Wynnfall slot that I keep thinking I will hit.....but haven't. How hard can it be? LOL

You book your trips too early........if you waited until they sent you an invite, you could be in on all the cool stuff. :evillaugh There is supposed to be a $5K buy in coming up........you might hold off for that one.
