I was reading TRs on another board last night and came accross one where the guy hit for $3500 on one of these machines (Tiger's Realm to be exact) from a 40 cent bet. Then I keep reading and others have had similar experiences with these machines. Some say that their local casinos took them out recently because people were hitting on them quite a bit. What has been your experience with them - do you like them? I usually find those type to be a bit boring so I don't play them very often but if they tend to give good payouts then I'll give it a go. Do you know if Mirage has any?
Played these for a bit when they were new last year. WMS has set the volatility on these things so high, that I dumped $120 through one (Tigers Realm 2 to be exact) at $2 a spin..........and never hit a bonus round or even one of the awesome reels bonuses. I swore to never play these again! Casino's aren't taking these out because people make too much money on them. WMS comes out with new machines every week! Those machines get moved out and replaced with something new.
Lost $40 in June on the bank of them that they have at Excalibur. Got a few bonuses but nothing big at all. They were kind of boring to play IMO. They were right by the lounge.
Not sure how true is that statement because the machines are set to return a certain percentage over the long term. So, if there were hitting quite a bit in the long run it all would have worked out. I play lots of slots including both reel and non-reel types. It all depends on which keep me entertained.
Hi LV_Bound - I was watching all of those vidoes on the slotfanatics board and thinking - yeah, I could make $3500 off of a 40 cent bet - if they can do it I can do it right? But I wonder how much was already sank into those machines once that awesome burst was hit. I will look for them and try Lone Wolf and Tigers Realm...I'm not willing to risk half my bankroll or more however. I figure if I'm supposed to win I will, if I'm not then after a certain point I should just give up. Worth a try tho, I've never played one before.
It can happen But remember, slot returns are in direct correlation to the denomination of the coin, dollars being the highest on the strip and downtown, and quarters on the Boulder highway slightly out return dollars. Locals play so the casinos know they have to cater to those savvy players to keep their profits flowing. I once hit a jackpot on a penny machine as I was sitting with my wife chipping away waiting for a complimentary cocktail. If I had put more coin I would have had a nice jackpot but who knows? Sure it's nice to hit a jackpot, but factor the long term and you'll be surprised just how much it takes the average slot player to hit it. Good Luck
In terms of high volatility, I can add that on Tiger's Realm 2, you can max out at $40,960 for every $.40 bet, and on Lone Wolf, $16,384 on every $.40 bet. These games are truly boring in my opinion, but with the potential I do give Tiger's Realm 2 a shot when I hit the Rio with some freeplay. This thread could be very entertaining like the Lion's Share thread if we can post experiences at these machines, good or bad
Just be aware that the reported returns include multiple game types, most notably video poker. When you see 97% for quarter slots on the Boulder Strip, I think that's the influence of full-pay video poker. The actual quarter reel slots are presumably somewhat tighter, IMO.
Of course it is. This is part of the lure of the slot machines. You can bet a big $$$$$ win is often in the back of my mind when playing.
I have a love hate with them. I want to like them because I'm a volatility junkie...but I've had little luck to date on them. They are TOGUH!! If I find them (hard to find - saw them recently in AC, and at Excalibur in Vegas) I will always throw $80 to $100 in to see what I can get - always at min 40 to 50 cents. Love watching the big wins - I'm sure you've all seen them on YT.
There is a video on youtube of one of the awesome reels slots where the guy won around 32 grand on a max bet of I think $2. Username is judgedoom if you want to search for it.
I will be in Vegas in two weeks and would like to try them out. Are they still around? Downtown and on the Strip (mid strip would be best, but anywhere really)
They are still a very popular slot. So they'll be easy to find at nearly every casino. Here's the link to the WMS slot locator, so you can find a specific machine: http://www.wms.com/ForPlayers/Pages/SlotLocator.aspx *edit* So I guess I jumped the gun. WMS removed these games from their website and the search engine there as well. They are also being pulled off casino floors as well. I did play a few of these around Halloween in Luxor and Trashy Castle next door.
That's what I thought, so I was surprised to see you linked the slot finder. I'll see if I can find them in Luxor or Excalibur (I guess that's what you call trashy castle ?) If you see any and remember this thread I'd appreciate any heads-up on casinos where you've seen them.
I really do not think you are going to find some machines that are really paying out more than they take in. I do think there are some machines set to REALLY screw you though.
Just returned from Vegas. There are 3 awesome reels machines in front of the Seahorse Bar at Caesar's Palace. That's the bar in front by the entrance to CP across from the huge Linq marquee. There's a block of 8 WMS machines, and 3 of them are it. I played the Tigers Realm II machine with a twenty betting minimum. Got the 10x multiplier, the awesome burst feature, and a third bonus on that 6th reel that I don't remember what it was. I also saw one, yes one awesome reels machine at Harrah's. There is some listed at Rio as well, but I don't get over there very often. HTH
