I have booked a FAB room at the Flamingo for 20 nights in April and looking for advice what to ask for at check-in.
I'm paying an average of $43 per night - including 3 weekends - so I don't want to upgrade to a GO room in advance.
Will probably try the $20 trick (but with $50 or $60 instead of the usual $20) for an upgrade at check-in.
I did search the board for information, but didn't find all the answers to my questions. Hope you can help me!

The things that are important to me / I don't care about are:
    - Quiet between 4am and 12pm (I don't care about noise until 4am)
    - A nice view (for taking pictures), preferably of the Strip, otherwise the Habitat or swimming pool
    - I do like a bath tub (not just a shower) and one that is deep enough to cover my whole body with water
    - I prefer 2 queen beds over 1 kingsize bed (want to use the 2nd queen as storage place lol)
    - I don't care about walking distance to the room
    - I don't care much about modern/luxurious interior, as long as it's clean and comfortable
    - I use the room just to sleep and shower/bathe

    1. Which tower should I ask for or avoid (construction noise etc)?
    2. What floor levels should I ask for or avoid (view, noise, water pressure)?
    3. Which view should I ask for or avoid (constructions, obstructions, nice for pictures)?
    4. Do any of the FAB rooms have Strip view anyway? Or only the GO rooms and up?
    5. What are the advantages of a GO room compared to a FAB room?
    6. Do you have to pay extra for 2 queen beds (I've heard this has changed recently, but not sure)?
    7. Can I ask for a room with a fridge, or do I have to pay extra for that by default?

    Thank you for any advice!!

I can't help you with any of your specific questions about the Flamingo. But any hotel certainly should offer you some special considerations for a 20 night stay, including a refrigerator in the room if you want one.

The more I think about this--do not wait until check in if you are staying 20 nights. Your requests are very modest--call or email the hotel and ask for the fridge and the 2 beds in advance. It is hard to imagine they would not accommodate you for what amounts to a long term stay. You have enough time to get this sorted and guarantee what you want before you arrive.

Did stay there for NY in a Fab room facing Caesars on the Quad corner. You are set back so the building blocks your view in the south direction which is kinda ugly, but a straight view of caesars. Stay high enough because you are above a roof if you in that part of the building, and noise will travel up from the street. Facing the pool would be safer for being quiet, but not sure now with the construction. If you have a car the parking structure is usually full at night because they took away parking for the time share. You have to park across the street next to the construction, and the walk is farther into the casino.

20 days? Your hard core. We usually stay 9 to 11 days and people say that's long, but I never regret it. Have fun!

I booked the room via one of my friend's host, he asked her to make me a nice offer (I'm not a big gambler myself). I do have her email address, but I don't want to push my luck. Can call or email the hotel directly of course, like you say.

On the other hand, when I'm standing there at check-in and show a nice amount of tip, I'll probably have a better chance of getting what I want. The power of money. Don't you think?

Good advice, thank you! You say "stay high enough", above which floor level should I think of then?

I don't drive a car, so I have no worries about parking, fortunately.

Regarding the length of my stay, I usually stayed 10-12 nights and always regretted I couldn't stay longer. The price of the flight remains the same and a couple more hotel nights don't make much difference. But work didn't allow a longer period. This year I have the chance to go 3 weeks instead of 2, so I grabbed it with both hands!

Quoting my own post, cause I have an additional question. In another thread I was advised that probably all GO rooms have a fridge. Anyone knows about that?

Every GO room we have ever stayed in had a fridge.

Great, thank you!! That way, instead of asking for an upgrade to a room with a fridge, I can just simply ask for an upgrade to a GO room! I like that better!

Anyone can tell me about the bath tubs in either the FAB or GO rooms? On my last stay at MC, the bath tub was so not deep (shallow? shoal? don't know the word for "undeep"), that the whole front of my body was above the water. Not nice! :nono:

So, it sounds like what you really want is a GO room with 2 beds. You're willing to pay $60 at check in to TRY to get it. For an upgrade to happen at checkin, the room has to be available for the entire duration of your stay. If there is ANY date during those 20 days (Saturday night, convention, etc) when all GO 2 bedded rooms are spoken for--you're out of luck.

Why not email the host and ask how much it would be to guarantee it before you arrive, so that you can relax about this for the next 2 months?

Yes very true. I'm just afraid that she will say something like $20 more per night (as it usually costs), or at least a lot more than the $60 (or even $100) I would be willing to tip at check-in.

But I guess when I don't like her offer, I could still ask for the upgrade at check-in, yes?

Tnx, dankyone, for your feedback every time, it's really helpful!!

Hi Lady. I forget but I think we were on a 20 something floor, and could still hear a little road noise. Noise travels up so you can never completely get away from it, but the higher the better. I never remember noise when staying on the pool side, but now I'm not sure if you'll get construction noise. You can ask when checking in.

The flamingo tub is average to me but I never fill it up to soak in it, but it should be OK.

I agree about staying longer. I hate flying so want to make the most of my trip. I'm usually just about ready to go home at the end of my trip but at the same time still sad that its over.

I followed dankyone's advice and have send an email to the host.
Requested a GO room with Strip/fountain view and two queen beds.
Hope my wishes come true, without having to pay too much extra!

Thanks, dankyone and all, for your great feedback!

Will report back ones I have some news...

Bad news, I was advised by the host that a GO room is considered an upgrade and to arrange it at check-in.

    Lady,

I just returned from the Flamingo and stayed in a Fab Deluxe room..the Shower/Tub combo I had was not deep at all. Now I never take baths, but it sure didn't look like anything special to me. My sister had a Go room and unfortunately I don't remember if there was a tub in there or not, but I do know it was a far better looking room than the FAB rooms, I would definitely shoot for a GO room over a FAB room.

Thanks for your feedback on the bath tub! I was afraid of that already. I will still give it a shot at check-in, to upgrade to a GO room. I'm thinking of slipping $100 towards the check-in clerk. That would mean $5 additional per night for me and for him/her a $100 tip. I hope the money will do magic! Although there is a chance of course that there won't be an upgraded room available for my entire stay and I will get a no. That is why I was hoping to have it sorted now already, but I didn't get lucky unfortunately. But I'm sure I will survive a FAB room as well, if it comes to it.

I've had 3-4 GO Rooms and they all were shower only.
