I remember my first trip to LAS the stay was at the Rio loved it. That being said love staying on the strip but my deals dictate I stay off the strip. Just can't justify paying $40-50 more a night to be on the strip. Would rather use the money for something else. So has your home casino changed over time and if so why ?

14 Trips and we still stay on the strip for part of our vacation. Mainly because the dh still loves to walk out the door and be there in the middle of the lights/action/vibe. We do love off strip now. Past 4 trips we have done 3/4/5 on the strip and 2/3 nights at South Point. We love Rio also. We want to try Golden Nugget but I refuse to leave SP and we don't want to do 3 different hotels in 1 trip.

I'm unusual from most on the board, as I have business meetings around town during the days. I used to stay on the strip, then went through a downtown phase and later landed at the Hard Rock about five-(5) years ago. I love being able to shorten the time from my room's door to being in my vehicle and traveling. That's tough to do on the strip. The walks are usually long from the room to valet and valet can be a challenge during busy periods and then strip traffic can often be paralyzing.

I do still find plenty of time to visit the strip and rarely just "hold-up" the entire trip at the HRH. The strip's where the action and activity is at. If I was ALL (or mostly) about gambling, I suppose I could do that at any property, but I like checkin' out the new stuff, the fun stuff... the excitement of the strip is like no other. I also still make time for downtown as well... lots of changes there I like to take in.

We stay exclusively on the Strip and have since they closed Star Trek: The Experience at LVH. Since then, the Strip is the entire reason we're in Vegas. The hotels, variety, games, electricity, hustle and bustle. We can't imagine going to Vegas and not staying on the Strip.

We always stay on the Strip. To go offstrip or Downtown you have to rely on buses and shuttles to get to the heart of everything and if you look out for offers the Strip can be just as cheap.

I've been staying at Harrahs since it was the Holiday Casino, back in the late 70's. Other places on the Strip as well, and Rio became our home while Marnell owned it. Best hotel/casino in Vegas while he was in charge.

Stayed on the strip for my first 5 trips, but have stayed Downtown for the last 2, and I have to say I absolutely love it there.

We do each trip. Last summer we only did one night out of five, that was because it was June and we love the pool at Sunset Station and spent the entire day there. We checked in at Luxor on our last night and got our "strip fix".

In the winter we spend the entire trip on the strip. I go to Vegas for the "like nowhere else" feeling. I can check in at a hotel and gamble locally. We love to walk and take in the sights and sounds.

This last trip we walked from Mandalay Bay to the Mob Museum. We loved it.

We can get rooms at the Flamingo for $50 per night average. No reason to stay off the strip.

Hardly ever. I have branched WAY out & always have to have a car now! I have found so much to enjoy away from the strip.

I always stay on the strip.
I like/need to be in the middle of the action. I get bored and restless rather quickly and like the ability to go strolling from one property to the next.
That's the reason I rarely go any to any of a number of local gambling options.

Always stay on the strip. Wandered away to Red Rock and Green Valley a few times because they gave us free rooms. But we still spent most of our time on the strip.

I like downtown, but the strip just feels like Vegas to me.

I love the stretch from Aria to Caesars and Flamingo to P.Ho. That center strip area feels like the center of the universe to me.

Really can't think of a reason to stay off strip.
    Can't beat free rooms.
Seriously though if staying off strip, the cost to take a taxi to/from the strip would jack up the total cost. Also the convenience of having the room easily accessible by being on the strip is hard to put a price on it.

Now if you are talking about staying off strip and not even visiting the strip at all then that is a different topic all together. Why bother travel to Vegas then?

I only stay on the strip when someone else is paying, but I always make time to visit and see what is happening.

The Strip ............ love the area around the mlife casinos

I'll bounce from MGM to NYNY - then Monte Carlo, Aria, Bellagio or go the other way and hit Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay.

Not crazy about the Excalibur,Luxor,Mandalay route ........ though the Luxor can be happening at times.

The sportsbook at PH is the best to settle into and watch a game at. But other wise I am wandering - looking for opportunities

I've stayed at GVR twice and Red Rock once. I will probably do that more as I get older, they are just far less chaotic.

I only want to stay on the Strip and it has to be somewhere between Monte Carlo and the Quad. I only walk, don't drive a car and when I want to visit Downtown - ones or twice during my stays - I take the bus. I love to just walk out of the hotel, into the liveliness of the Strip, without any specific destination in mind. Just people-watching and going in and out of the various resorts on my way. And even more important, when I need to get something from my room, I just hop back in and get it. Also, when going back to the hotel, after a wild night on the Strip, I don't need to bother taking a taxi or walk through dodgy areas to get there. Staying at a good location on the Strip is my #1 priority when going to Vegas!

    Always stay on the strip!
I've been coming since the early nineties and stayed all over the strip, but prefer the midsection the best.(Caesars, Harrahs, Mirage, Flamingo, Ballys, Paris, ect)
In the early days, stayed at MGM area, but like the mid strip properties better, always action and excitement there.
We never rent a car, so want to walk or tram to wherever we want to go up the strip.
