Group Bet Ideas???

I am going to Vegas with my wife, BLaw and SisLaw, MIL, and FIL in April. We are thinking of pooling some funds and making a bet as team. I play craps mainly and the wife likes slots. As for the others they like slots and 3-card poker.

My question is should we take the $300 (50 per person) to a $5 or $10 Slot or maybe break it up like 6 numbers on a Roulette table straight up for $50 each number??

I need some more ideas other than just $300 pass line or BJ or Red/Black. Any Suggestions?????

 

Problem with slots is if you hit anything over $1200, you'll get a handpay and a tax form. You could have them deduct the taxes on the spot, but who fills out the form and takes responsibility for reporting it? That's a little messy.

I like the roulette idea. Use each day of your birthdays for the numbers and put $25 or $50 per number.

 

$10 slot do 30 spins and then split the remaining 6 ways.

Thats how we do it...with different amounts and numbers of people but the same idea

 

The 2 ideas mentioned so far are on the top of my list.

Both are bets that most likely none of you would play, hence the reason for the group risk. The only thing I could think of for craps is to do $75/each on all the hardways. I can't think of anything for BJ, 3CP or any other card game.


One option would be 2 games. 15 pulls on a $10 slot and $25 on 6 number of roulette.


I wouldn't be concerned about the handpay issue. If it is relatively minor, then I assume someone in the group knows how to report it and won't need to pay taxes on it. If it is a massive one(5k+ lets say), I guess I'm ok with the hassle when everyone just won $800.

The only critical thing on slots is know exactly what you are going to do before you start. This could be 15 spins, it could be go up to X amount, a combo, ect... Don't put it up to a vote halfway through, get people in agreement at the start.

While I agree that BJ is a game that has a low house edge and can be profitable if variance is in your favor in the short term, I am unsure if it a exciting rags to riches type bet.

I used to only play blackjack and still do on occasion, just love the atmosphere at a hot craps table.

I am thinking about the split between 15 spins at $10 slot and $25 per number on roulette.

 

I always like the group bet. I think its fun and a small investment may payoff big time.

And yes, although you might get taxed on a big win...the key word is big win!

However, I also like the roulette idea too. Your money may only last a minute though. When I do play roulette though, I will cover a part of the wheel meaning play an entire 6 number section. Or hell, why not make $25 bets and play an entire 12 number section and cover 1/3 the wheel. That is still an $875 payoff.

 

Agreed. Baccarat may be worth a shot too. Fire $300 in one hand then quit.

I think the things with a group bet is that you want the possibility of a big win fast. But you also want to get some action out of it
Plus you have 6 people crowded around.

So I'd go with either some number of pulls on a slot machine from $10 to $50 denom, or play the same number straight up in roulette for 6 spins. If you play slots, get everyone to agree that you'll keep playing until all the money's gone (ie. keep playing off small wins) unless you hit a win of $X or more on a single spin, or accumulate $X or more in credits.

Or if you don't really mind a horrendous house edge, bet $25 12 times on the number 12 in craps. If it hits once, you'll have at least $750 and you can then take that, and parlay it by putting like $200 of it on the pass line and the rest in odds depending on what the point turns out to be.

If the point was 4 and you had $200 on the line and $500 in odds, you'd end up with $1900 (plus any remainder).

If the point was 5 or 9 with the same bet, you'd end up with $1650 (plus any remainder).

If the point was 6 or 8, you'd end up with $1,500 (plus any remainder)..

 

How about the bonus bets in craps (all small, all tall, and all)?

Throw $100 on each. If the all hits, that's about $24k (incl the all small and tall bets).

That would be pretty exciting. Search for a table with a virgin shooter.

 

We do a group bet every trip we call the "Parlay." We pool our money then go to roulette and place it on black. If we win we take the whole amount and parlay it on one hand of blackjack. If we win that we go back to roulette and put it all on black again. We have hit this several times. It's a real rush on that last bet.

 

Also you could try slot golf. Someone here on VMB came up with the idea. I can't find the original post. But I copied the rules from when it was posted. So thanks to the original poster whoever you are.

Slot Golf is a game played on slot machines. Like golf, a game consists of
"holes" and the winner is the person with the fewest strokes over the course
of the game. In slot golf, each "hole" is a turn at a slot machine. A
"stroke" is a pull on a slot machine.

Play goes as follows - for each "hole" the player puts a $10 bill in a slot
machine. The payer bets a pre-determined number of credits and pulls the
lever. Each pull is considered a stroke.

* If the player wins one or more credit on the first pull, the
player's score is 1 stroke. The player cashes out, which includes any
remaining original credits and whatever was won on the pull. The player
registers his score of 1 on the scorecard for the first hole and the amount
cashed out is put into the money pot.

* If the player wins nothing on the first pull, the player repeats
the bet and the pull. This continues until the player wins at least one
credit. For example, at a $.25 machine, we decide it will be a five credit hole. The player spins. Lets say that nothing is won on the first two pulls, and then
there is a winner on the third pull for 20 credits. The player records a 3 for that hole. The player cashes out $11.25 ($6.25 are his remaining credits plus he won $5 on his winning spin) and the money goes into the pool.

* All players play the same or identical machines. So in our case, all five players gather near one machine. The first player puts in his money and takes his turn. Then the other players take their turn.

* This is repeated for 18 holes.

In an ideal game, you play a hole at one casino, do some drinking, maybe
gamble (craps, blackjack, video poker, whatever) and then move on to another
casino and repeat. After 18 holes, the players are ranked according to their
total score, with the winner being the player with the lowest score. The
pool of winnings is distributed. Winnings will be divided based on a payout
schedule determined by the number of players.

Payout schedule - For Five Players

* Winner gets 50%

* Second gets 20%

* Third gets 15%

* Fourth gets 10%

* Fifth gets 5%

 

Just curious...What do you do when you get a split or double-down hand? 2x or 3x split?

 

We usually agree in advance as to what to do in case of a double. Based upon how we're feeling we may not double.

But we usually agree to all pitch in with the extra dough or only part of the group covers that and that's a side pot just for them.

With a split we definitely would cover that bet, again either all of us or some of us.

We've only had one double come up and two of us covered it and we lost it.

 

What about a series of parlay bets, like $50 a time, and try to double up a certain number of times.

For $300 you could do six $50 bets on roulette or craps passline, try to go $50 > $100 > $200 > $400.

At the Meet and Greet at Coushatta, we pooled our $20 bills and played slots as a group... we played about 4 hours on the money before we got a really big win... but we had a ball trying to hit... and we were not spending all our money at the same time.

I think the most fun slot we picked to play was Top Dollar... at $15 a spin it takes a while to get the choice of offers... but there were a lot of bars, etc. along the way to add money to the machine. It was a lot of fun for the group to choose which offer and to cheer the slots every time we got a hit!!!

Try machines that offer good returns like Triple Diamond or a variety of 7's machines... most fun are the machines that have 9 lines... and you can win from several lines... $1 ones at $9 a spin pays real well. The old 5x and10x machines are fun if you like the oldie slots.

Years ago, 7 of us on a bus trip, put $20 each in a pool and played Sizzling 7's... when we reached $1600, we each took $200 for our $20 and played off the extra $200. That made us all happy!!!

If you don't want to group pull on slots, you can play Pow Gai Mania for quite a while on that much money and the side bets pay big sometimes. Also Freebet Blackjack... with the casino furnishing coins for your extra bets is fun and both games can be played at $5 or $10 levels for quite a while without losing your whole bankroll.

From my viewpoint, the whole idea... besides making money... is to have group fun... and it would not be fun for me to lose all the money on one or two bets. And I would rather win several wins just under the taxable win line... than just one on which you must pay income tax.

 

Try something different - pick a horse or two at the sports book, everyone will be wondering why this group is making so much noise for an everyday horse race
