Burger Bar vs Holsteins

Hey guys

Change of base for our next trip.

After 5 years Luxor is getting the boot and Aria have hooked us up with a nice deal so off to spend the week there in May.

Burger Bar at Mandalay place was our go to option for some burgers when staying at Luxor. How would Holsteins compare (i know BeeJay rates this place).

Anyone been to both?

I have been to both and Holsteins definitely has the edge. Holstein have better burgers, shakes and atmosphere. I like Burger Bar as well but the only time i would pick it over Holstein would be if i was staying at MB and feeling to tired to hike over to Cosmo.

 

I have been to both, had the same meal at both, and rank Burger Bar higher. The post above is correct that Holstein's has a much better atmosphere. And the food and shakes are fine there. But the food and shakes are much better at Burger Bar. I would eat at either one, but between the two, you know which one I would select

 

I prefer Holstiens, the Rising Sun Burger is great if you like a slight Asian flavor twist. It pairs with the savory beef well.

 

I've been to Burger Bar 3x and Holsteins 2x, and I'd say Burger Bar in a landslide. Burger Bar's execution is much better. Holsteins seems to cook everything at medium and call it a day.

 

Its hard to say because I liked them both. They are similar in price and both have great offerings.

If I had to choose only one though, Holsteins hands down.

Defo going to give Holsteins a try then.

Burger Bar is always top food but i agree sometimes a little light on atmosphere - still never had a bad experience there.

Now for the long wait till May.

Been to both, Burger Bar was much better in my experience. Went to Holstein's only once, because my burger was not done correctly and was greasy.

 

I really want to like Holsteins, and the menu is appealing as is the atmosphere--but they overcook every burger. I'm not sure I'll give it another chance.

The new B & B joint is awesome, burgers very similar to Carnevino at a lower price. They know what medium rare means.

It is in the Venetian, near the sportsbook, with indoor and outdoor seating. You can actually approach it from outside walking across the street from the Mirage. Just opened and highly recommended (by me, anyway.) The "really good" burger is $16 and very, very similar to what Batali and Bastianich serve at Carnevino for $25.

The billionaire burger at Holsteins is pretty damn good. Kobe beef, caramelized onions, foie gras, truffle. Amazing.

 

Burger Bar gets my vote hands down, Holsteins IMO does not use near the quality of beef or condiments that BB does. Holsteins wins for atmosphere and shakes but when it comes to food BB gets my vote.

 

MB used to be my home base before moving to Aria when they opened. So I'm very familiar with both Burger Bar and Holsteins.

If you're looking at just burgers; then I think Burger Bar wins. I think they just make a fantastic burger with so many options to customize your burger.

Holsteins is good too and they offer more variety for your non traditional type burgers. Also, their milk shake selection is insane.

Ever since we moved to Aria; we've only been to Burger Bar a couple times over the years. While, it's better; I don't think it's worth the trip just for that. If you're already in the MB area then definitely check it out.

 

gpburdell - how do you find Aria generally? You pleased you moved? We gambled there the last couple of years but this will be our first stay.

Any tips or things to look out for. We are Corner Suite with adjoining Queen room - anyhting in particular to ask the host for regarging rooms.

If you go to Holstein's, try one of the alcoholic shakes, particularly the Cereal Bowl shake!! Amazing stuff.

 

I still have to chuckle seeing a high end burger joint named Holsteins. Then again once Holstein's are no longer good for milking they're good for a bunch of burgers and not much else

 

I love the Aria for both the casino and the hotel. I prefer the modern decor vs Bellagio or Venetian. The Corner Suite is definitely a nice room and you should love it; just a long walk.

My only complaint with Aria was that they didn't have any good mid level dining options like Mandalay. Though they have added Javiers and the new pizza place recently. Plus, there are a options next door at Crystals and the places at Cosmo which is a short walk.
