I want to start trying sports betting. Do you have to show ID in the sportsbook if you are betting a lot of cash like you do in other parts of the casino? Do they keep a record of what your activity?

They have asked for my ID (or my players club card, for which they already have my ID scanned in their system) only when I bet or won large amounts (usually in excess of 4k)

I have an account with Cantor (Hard Rock) and only been asked for my ID when I withdraw some $$ from the account to verify it's me... sadly, I've never won an amount large enough to trigger it otherwise. Since 99% of my activity is on my IPad or IPhone, I did ask for a win/loss statement a week ago and was given a 14 page printout of all my activity through the account. Absent an account though, I doubt there's any sort of "tracking" going on for the causal bettor.

I only bet small amounts and i've never been asked any ID

If you dont wanna show id there are very easy to get around it

Doing smaller bet at each window
Sending someone to bet for you
    Placing bets in different places

What do you consider a lot of cash? If it's enough to trigger a cash transaction report....

Good points, but I assume the OP is more concerned about a transaction record of his bets, not the ID. He indicated on another thread that he is both Noir and Seven Stars. I know that you cannot get a Noir card without mgm having your ID on file

I'm pretty consistently asked for ID at Caesars Palace when placing sports bets. It doesn't seem to really matter what amount I bet, and I show my players club card but they still ask for it. I don't recall being asked when cashing in, though. I have not been asked for it at Bellagio or Mandalay Bay, though.

I was thinking about over 10k which I know requires a CTR at the cage but didnt know if it was the same at the sportsbook. I also wanted to know if they check ID for lower amounts like 5k.

UKFanatics post cleared things up for me. Thanks for that. He's also right about the reason I'm asking. I dont care if they needed my ID just for the CTR but I dont like to give it because I dont know if they keep a record of my activity in my mlife account since my ID is linked to it. There are times when I dont want the casino keeping track of my activity.

At MGM and CET properties, I have always been asked for my players club or ID when placing wagers that large. I don't know what the line is that triggers the request, but it sounds like you can expect it. Good luck! Win big!!
