I've heard most of the stories are pretty polite. Are there any that got out of hand? Annoying pit bosses? Rude players? Alcohol involvement (God forbid)? Entourage, eye candy, bj coaches? I would love to hear some casino excitement.

Having seen around ten people backed off, they were all very polite and on the low key side. About a third of them have offered to buy the player a drink before they leave. These have all been so called advantage players. Thinking back, I've never seen such player complain at all. They've just nodded their heads and left.

I've only seen someone backed off once.

It was early morning in the Bellagio, at a $25 S17 shoe game. Young guy around my age (25ish) kept switching between one and two hands. He had clearly been up all night drinking. It was him, a couple of his buddies, and me at the table. He wasn't an angry drunk, but more of a happy go lucky one. When he'd play two hands, he'd always put up his second bet just as the dealer was starting to pull the cards out. Sometimes the dealer said it was too late because the first card had already come out, sometimes it was borderline and she'd call the pitboss to ask if he could play the 2nd one or not.

After a few times of doing this the pit boss told him he needs to stop. I remember her saying something along the lines of "You think you're being cute, but if you keep it up I'm gonna back you off." Then she told him what he was doing was a felony.

A few hands later he did it again, way late. Some cards had already come out and he kind of smirked at the pit boss, who was still watching. She'd had enough and said, "You're done. Color him up." And that was that.

I thought being "backed off" refers to some sort of advantage player such as a counter. Your example is being kicked out for being a jerk.

With all that Vegas allows...why is swearing such a big thing?

The only time I was "backed off", I was never even spoken too directly - the pit boss simply whispered to the dealer to shuffle after every hand (single deck game).

I described it in another thread.

I was at a table were a guy put his head on the table and fell asleep. Took the dealer awhile to wake him up, but when he did, he just smiled and left.

I am always getting in trouble for swearing at the tables. I remember one dealer said I couldn't swear and I said if I cant say fuck I'm fucking out of here, grabbed my chips and left. Pretty sure it was at the Excal.

I did see a very drunk woman slap a guy and call him a "punk little white boy" at a 21 table in Lake Charles, La. The pit personnel came over and told her she had to go to her room now! The best part was after it was all over, the young man she slapped turned to me and said "I think she was being sort of rude, don't you?" He was a young guy who said it was his first time to play blackjack so I told him "don't let it bother you, happens all the time." I will never forget the look on his face which was beginning to swell with a big red mark across his cheek. He quickly gathered his chips and muttered something about a slot machine. What an exciting and wonderful first time blackjack experience!

Yes, to me "backed off" and "cut off" are two different things.

There were five of my group playing blackjack at The Beau Rivage. We were wasted and having way too much fun. There was one other guy at the table. He was not wasted.
The pit supervisor came over and told the dealer, "These guys are done. Shut this table down." The guy not with us said, "Hey! I'm not with those guys."
The pit guy only said, "Collateral damage."

Craps. I've seen a shooter get backed off (or can't shoot anymore). Dude was hitting point after point, but kept bouncing the dice off of the mirrored glass. After about 5 warnings in a row, pit boss said "stick, he's done, pass the dice to the next shooter in line!" So of course, I was the next shooter. I think I managed to hit his remaining point, then next round, sevened out.

A little swearing is not a big deal. Quietly dropping an F-bomb after the dealer pulls ANOTHER five when there is a ten under the six is not a big deal. Frequently yelling FUUUCCCCKKKK YYYOOOUUU!!! Like Phil in the Hangover makes an uncomfortable environment for some players.

I'll say "I can't believe the shit cards I'm hitting" and never is there a word about it. But I also respect the others at the table.

I've only been involved with this one time.....at the old Barbary Coast, which was famous for getting their panties in a knot whenever a table (mainly blackjack) was hot.

I was at one such table where almost everyone was winning and smart enough to press their bets. It was driving the pit bosses nuts and they tried everything to "cool the table down". Changing dealers much faster than the normal switch. Same with shuffling up and putting new decks into play. Nothing worked so they simply shut the table down. Never seen that happen before.

Lots of grumbling by the players, but nothing you could do.

I saw one back-up and a stern warning:

    1. At The Plaza (waaaay before they renovated it), a guy did not know the game (he thought he was playing against all the players at the table - not just the dealer. The pit boss told him that he needs to leave for his own good until he learns the game.

    2. My buddy was warned once -- we were the only ones at the table and the dumbass took a hit on a busting hand when the dealer had a six up. He busted with a 10. I stood. The dealer had a 16 and of course got a 4. I told my buddy why he took the hit and the he said loudly "shut the fuck up". The pit boss warned him and he got mad and just went on tilt and ended up losing $100 in the next 2-3 hands.
