I have freinds heading out this month bringing their 20 year old. They know she has a fake ID. I told them I would not have her attempt to try this I would think the clubs and casinos are probably zero tolerance for this stuff. Anyone try to enter these places with one? just curious if she might get in serious trouble. Its not like trying to get a beer in your local pub IMO

If THEY know she has a fake i.d. why would you think someone trained and experienced in identifying fake i.d.'s would detect it? But trouble? In Vegas? Just asking the question says you already know the answer.

when you say fake is it actually fake ?
The reason I ask is i use to have equipment that actually made real dmv licenses..... they were "fake" but real licenses and all the scanning tools worked.....

i made some killer money in college that way...

if its some bootleg bs id i would say stay the hell out its a felony and you can get locked up for it

Wouldn't even bother playing that game. She's not legal, sucks to be her.

The risk doesn't outweigh the reward as most people leave Vegas with less money than they came with w/o a police problem in the mix.

As a parent, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. Lovely
Morals and values they are teaching their daughter.

Its really not worth it. There is plenty for a 20 yr old to do in Vegas. Its a girl, so why not take her shopping... or if they want her to, buy booze and keep it in the room for her. I wouldn't think letting her use the fake ID with them there is a good idea. I know they will be there, but say she uses it gets caught with them present, what kind of trouble would the parents be in then? Laws vary by state and im from WI where were kind of...not as strict on the drinking with a parent present...but I would imagine Vegas wouldn't be so lax.

I wouldn't risk it but I wouldn't call it immoral. There's nothing magical about the number 21. It's not like the girl is 15.

Gotta disagree. I think it's immoral and unethical to flagrantly teach
Your child to break the law. I had a fake ID when I was 17. Used it often.
But my parents certainly didn't endorse it or even know about it. I have two
26 year old so I'm not that far removed from them being under aged. I teach
My kids to obey the laws and I can only attest to the fact that they do when they are with me . The law is the law regardless of your opinion of it. It doesn't matter if the child is 12, almost 21, Or serving in the Armed services. The best three trips I've had in vegas is when my son, daughter and niece each celebrated their 21st bdays. Just wait, vegas isn't going anywhere.

I agree that there's nothing magic about the 21 age. Before 21, it was 18.

And in this case, I much prefer Thomas Jefferson's view on things: "If a law is unjust, a (wo)man is not only right to disobey it, (s)he is obligated to do so."

    Let us know what happens!

I doubt there would be any trouble. They'd probably deny her access and confiscate the ID. I'd be shocked if they went through the trouble of calling the authorities. Unless Vegas has some strict law about this (I don't mean a hard 21 rule, but catching an offender using a fake ID rule)?

If she hits a big jackpot on the slots, they won't give her the money. This has happened many times in the past.

Agreed. Laws are laws regardless of if you agree with them or not. "Cool" parents who wanna party with their children even if it means risking serious trouble. Not smart.

    I am McLovin!

    To the OP:
That these parents admitted knowledge of their daughter's fake ID and then to ask your opinion about using it in LV is stunning. I have heard of parents hosting house parties because they would rather their kids drink at the house and not drive. I am a fossil.

So your problem is with the parents, for knowing about the fake ID, and not with the girl for potentially using it?

I'd rather have my daughter use a fake ID with me than out with her 'friends'.

It's somewhat arbitrary law, like speed limits. Have you ever driven above the speed limit? Or made a right on red even when there was a sign saying not to? Or passes on the right?

Sorry all, I didn't indend this to be a judgment on Parenting,
Just was looking to see how much of an issue this could be and how strictly enforced
IE: Jail, fine or slap on the wrist

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas unless it ends up on your criminal record. If caught she surely would face charges.

I would think that they don't take these things lightly considering what the ramifications are on their end if they get caught letting people with fake ID's in.

Not sure how harsh they are about it in Nevada but a bar just got caught up here by the state. Lost their liquor license for a month.

f the sole purpose of possessing the fake ID is to make the holder appear old enough to gamble, drink or buy cigarettes, then it's just a misdemeanor in Las Vegas carrying up to six months in jail and/or up to $1,000 in fines.

Otherwise, possessing an ID for the purpose of establishing a fake identity in Nevada is a category E felony in Las Vegas carrying one to four years in prison. However, it's typical for the judge to grant probation with no prison in these cases.
