For absolute best selection, but a bit of a drive, you might want to try Total Wines and More. Found these to have a huge selection and very good prices...Cheers!

Yup, we have 2 Total Wines in my area and the one in Henderson is not really that far if you have a car.

It's like 20 mins from the middle of the strip and maybe 10 mins from the airport car rental straight down Sunset or Warm Springs.
I say that cuz we always make our booze run immediately after landing and getting our car.

If going from Downtown, I imagine the Summerlin location is closer but I haven't been there. I have been to the Costco Business Center. I like spiced rum and I can deal with the half-gal Kirkland for $15 (the cost of one mixed drink on the strip).

You absolutely can take a bus east on Tropicana or Flamingo and hit grocery stores. Not sure you can (easily) reach a Walmart using a bus.

(Flamingo & Maryland intersection has a TON of stores)

There's no Walmart close to the strip but Vons is on Tropicana.

    The 201 bus goes there.

I imagine you could also pick up that stuff at Walgreens or CVS tho.

Total Wine also has a good website listing inventory and prices.

I shop at the one in Delaware; no sales tax, better selection, and much cheaper than the state controlled liquor stores in Pennsylvania. I think Total Wine has about 200 brands of Vodka, about 100' of shelves. I'm up to the letter "G". :drunk:

I live in an ABC state so our Total Wine only has wine. And beer:peace: Same with Costco. And my husband wonders why I love to shop at those stores when we travel. Funny thing is I don't even drink that much liquor, I usually just want wine & craft beer. Ah well. Always want what you can't have

Luckily, my area has 2 states plus DC and I'm smack in the middle.

MD, where I actually live has individual liquor stores which include a Total Wine with everything. Liquor sales at grocery stores vary by county. For instance, Charles County (southern MD) has a Nick's Supermarket that sells liquor.

VA, where me and my wife work, is ABC but yes has a Total Wine with only beer and wine. The Costcos sell beer and wine and so do the grocery stores.

DC, has individual liquor stores and the ONE Costco there sells everything. It has a surprisingly extensive spirits section). Not sure about grocery stores.

When I lived in DC, I shopped the VA Total Wine, therefore was VERY excited when they came to NC! But DC didn't have a Costco back then either:peace: When I lived there, the grocery stores did not sell liquor. Is the liquor store in Costco or a separate section? That's how it is in Alaska (Ancohorage) if I'm remembering correctly, and that's how it is at grocery stores near my sister in Wisconsin. Same building but segregated.

I had a FABULOUS wine store at the end of my block -went there all the time on my way home to taste wines. They really taught a green wine enthusiast how to taste & describe the wines I like.

I want to get more details on the Vons delivery. Will they deliver to the hotel? Can we have it delivered to the hotel? That sounds awesome!!

I got a Vons delivery at Flamingo last June. The driver told us that some casinos don't like it, but they are willing to work with you and find a different drop off spot as close as they can get to where you are staying. I got food, water, milk, beer and booze ( Jack and Red Stag) delivered. I ordered on-line and had no delivery charge. I found this to be so easy. Last year I took a cab to Vons...there and back cost me over 50 dollars. I will do this every time I'm in Vegas now. The prices are normal prices...not the jacked up prices you get on the strip.

Also you can see their specials online.

We used think of not using a rental car but then by the time I pay for cabs, I could've paid just a tad more and got a rental for more convenience and going off-strip.

I really liked the convince of the Vons delivery. I didn't have to walk or get a cab...I got everything I wanted at normal prices. I gave the a time and bam! there were there with everything I ordered. Heck they even threw in some more free water.
Worked great for me. Got to my Hotel and checked in by 3 my Vons was here by 3:30. Now all I needed to do was party for the next 6 days. Saving a lot of money!

Total Wine & More for my vote.

Compared to AUS a great range at magic prices.

I usually bring 8-10 bottles home of bourbon / vodka for the home bar.

Tax at the airport only add on $100 or so.

I drive from SoCal. After checking in and having a buffet, I make a run to Vons at Tropicana & Maryland or Food 4 Less on Flamingo & Decatur for a 30-pack of beer, some 12-packs of soda, chips, breakfast pastries for the next morning, &c. I usually carry a pack of 24 or 35 half-liter waters when I start a trip, so some of 'em stay in the car's trunk, and some come up to the room. Several trips to the ice machine... and the bathtub is piled in ice cubes at its drain end (tip: close the drain tightly). No need for an ice chest.

It helps if you bring along an extra, larger wheeled piece of luggage from the set. Your packed bag can go inside it in the car trunk to save space. Bring your packed pag to the room, but leave the larger piece in the trunk so it can be loaded with the supermarket goodies.

Next morning, remove the still-cool beverages before showering. Then replace the ice and have plenty of cold ones waiting when you return in the afternoon.

Some hocinos will send a mini-fridge to your room at no charge if you just ask. Others will upgrade you to a mini-suite with a fridge the same way. One way or another, it's always possible to have cold orange or tomato or grapefruit juice waiting for you when you wake, and cold beer or soda when you're tired of the heat and walking and altitude. Not to mention the salsa and sour cream for your tortilla chips, cream cheese or swiss or what-have-you for your sandwich, and so on.
