We are staying a couple nights downtown, which I love. However I tend to get just a little antsy down there by the time we leave because their is so little to see. This is especially true after numerous stays down there and when the gambling budget is hurting for a day.

Thus, I am looking for a diversion or excursion if you will. What casinos lie within walking distance, if any, of dt to the north (obviously not including dt grand, gold spike and el co) if their are any and if not, what about within say an under 20 dollar can ride? I like holes in the wall good vp pay tables and full release massage. That last part is only partially true. Lol

These days only Jerry's Nugget really fits your requirements. It's on LVB just past where Main St merges into it. DD DAS BJ, decent slot club & VP.

Further down LVB is Silver Nugget which I used to go to regularly, but they now rarely offer table games and the VP was never that great.

You really need a car to visit the other "gems" of North Las Vegas. Bighorn on Lake Mead is a sister casino to the Longhorn on Boulder Hwy. All locals, but they have loose $3 BJ.

I haven't been in Opera House or Poker Palace in years. Opera House didn't have tables, and they downgraded their VP many years ago. I only went to the Palace once to run coupons. I wasn't very impressed, though I do still have a T-shirt from them. I did eat a steak & lobster in the restaurant that wasn't too bad for a bargain deal.

Lucky Club is another I haven't been to in a while. They used to have $5 DD DAS but no noteworthy VP.

The primary upscale casino is the Cannery, on Craig West of I-15. They used to have the Wincards promo.

Way out further is Aliante (never been) and Santa Fe Station. SFS has great DD DAS good pen, but it's just too far out there for me to go to on a regular basis.

    Have fun & good luck!

WAX bus out to Suncoast? $2 and 20mins each way. You could then get a cab to either RedRock or the Rampart casinos.

Agreed, though I'd definitely take a cab to Jerry's... don't walk... unless it's smack dab in the middle of the day and even then? It's a walkable distance, but the homeless, vagrant, "ner-do well" population between downtown and Jerry's is substantial.

Not just on the other side of the freeway, but also further up where the Salvation Army and some other services for the poor are located. It's just not a pleasant walk and though there's lots of traffic on LV Blvd, a lotta nut-cases along the way.

I know what you mean. Last summer I walked to stadium where the Las Vegas 51's play from the Cortez. The guy at the 51's shop told me it wasn't bad during the day, but at night he would suggest a cab back.

I haven't been to Jerry's Nugget in over 10 years but used to stop there every trip for their prime rib special. I enjoyed the casino too.

Suncoast. WAX bus for $2 ea way, runs about once an hour each way.
For instance on a weekday, the Wax leaves downtown at 12:28 PM and arrives at SC at 12:55 PM.

It leaves SC at 2, 3, 3:54 etc. Arrives at Binions 25 minutes later.
Last bus to downtown is at 10:01 PM.
    Different schedules on the weekends.

What's the old saying? "When in Rome....."

Just stare at the ground and mumble out loud to yourself when walking around DT. No one will bother you.

Yesterday was proclaimed (by the NLV mayor) "Jerry's Nugget Day," as they celebrated their 50th anniversary. It's a decent casino, frequented mostly by locals. Their coffeeshop has an excellent reputation, as does their bakery. The news anchors on channel 3 mentioned that they go there whenever they need to buy a cake, lol.

But I wouldn't walk there from downtown.

    Suncoast

Has anyone stayed at Suncoast recently? Would appreciate your opinions?
    Thanks

Stayed there for 2 nights last month. Nice place, good VP paytables. 3 higher end restaurants, a TGIFridays & the cafe has decent food. There is also a deli.
    Bowling alley, 18 screen theater.
Not much around it but Rampart casino which is maybe a half mile walk.

We were comped a suite, but I'm told their regular rooms are very nice. I'll find out in 3 weeks. I double booked a room their just to see a regular room.
