Will be staying at the Venetian for a portion of my trip to Vegas for a convention in this first week of February. Any tips or information that might be helpful for my stay? Work will cover cost of meals (up to $50/day).

    -Good places to eat?
-Worth the $20 trick at check-in? Currently have a 2 queen bed room booked.
-Good places to play VP? Usually just play .25 so I'm thinking there won't be a lot of options.

Any other tips would be great!

--$50 won't go far, prepare to spend some of your own money. Breakfast at Bouchon is a must and Carnevino is a favorite of mine.

--Standard rooms are quite large, I wouldn't bother with the $20 trick

    --You're right.

Even at $25/$15/$10 that doesn't give you much leeway, especially with dinner. Grand Lux is a good all round place to eat. There are some smaller places in Canal Shoppes that you can snack on, but if you are looking for a big meal you are going to have to come out of pocket.

As for VP, I believe there is quarter level at the bar at the sports book, cannot tell you of the quality of game as it has been a couple of years.

All in all, enjoy it there. If you play regular poker enjoy the room. Great dealers and an even better game selection.

Agree with danky: I wouldn’t bother with the $20 trick (best case scenario is you get a better view) and Bouchon for breakfast is a must.

I stay at Wynn a lot and usually head over to V/P to “change things up” several times a trip. I’ve never had much luck finding decent pay tables there, even at $1 and $5 machines. I’d venture to guess that most of the surrounding casinos (Wynn, Mirage, TI, Casino Royale) would have better offerings. They are fairly generous with the premium booze at the bartops, though.

The best thing about V/P is the food, IMO. There are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at (should you be inclined to shake a stick while you’re in Vegas:rolleyes2:). Though, as mentioned, $50 won’t go too far at many of them.

Grand Lux is better than 90% of the restaurants in town.

    Bouchon for breakfast.

    Grimaldi's for pizza.

Thanks for all the tips! Keep 'em coming!

One thing to mention is that breakfast will be provided most days, which will help save money for other meals; however, I know this still won't amount to a whole lot given the prices. May sneak over to Subway for lunch some days or pick up some snacks at Walgreens to hold me over.

If you're getting breakfast and lunch @ your show, your $50 should get you a pretty nice dinner each night.

I've liked the Chinese fried rice/noodle place on the Venetian casino floor. +1 for grand lux. Also check out Public House @ Venetian, and Society Cafe @ Wynn

Plenty of other good places to eat both in the Venetian, and in the mall in between Venetian and Palazzo. I don't think I've been disappointed at any of them.

The Puck Postrio place in the mall is pretty decent if you're looking for Italian, and the ambiance is pretty neat.

+1 for Bouchon, it's one of my LV favorites.

Looking for fun VP? Walk down to the Bond or Book+Stage bars @ Cosmo. They feature strip paytables, but no BS when it comes to drink service, and the bar tenders are great. If you want good paytables, catch a cab to the Palms, or head downtown.

-Well, $50 won't go far, BUT there is 70 dining options at Venetian/Palazzo!! My favorite is Bouchon for breakfast/brunch. We also like Grand Lux, it's not not exciting, but it's always a good meal (it's like Cheesecake Factory). They have 2 or 3 food courts as well if you just want something quick. Also yes, the Wynn has some great stuff too, I loved breakfast at Terrace Pointe Cafe, and Society Cafe.

-No, not worth the $20, all the rooms there are a large, like 600 sqft suite. All they might give you is a view. Or move to the Palazzo, neither seem worth it to me.

-I don't know about VP, but it's a 5 star hotel, the gambling limits are pretty high.

Huge tip! Get the Venetian iPhone app, they have walking directions on it, you can plug in where you are, and where you wanna go and it'll give you walking directions. That place is so big it's no joke! I've been there a million times and we go so lost when we stayed there last time. It was helpful once I found that.
