I was at Planet Hollywood last night when the pit boss walked up to another player at the Paigow table and told him he would have to remove his new Samsung Galaxy SmartWatch. The pit boss said that CET had released a memo and had a meeting that afternoon that Smart Watches were not going to be allowed. He thought it was over concerns about video and audio recording.

Yes. Those are easy to spot :) Smart watches might get kind of tough to recognize as more varieties come out.

This will be a tough one to enforce. One i'm not sure I completely agree with. I understood the Google Glass banning, but smart watches? Google glass will probably be a niche for awhile, but smart watches will probably become fairly popular soon, especially when Apple releases whatever they're going to release.

haha! So true. After the reviews and the slim amount of phones it would actually work with.....

Good to hear! Why do people need to bring their "toys" to a casino? It's bad enough when so many people are standing around staring at their little phones. Come on, get a life.
    Good luck.:beer::beer:

A smart watch is a watch at the end of the day. I don't know that I'd necessarily call it a toy. He didn't say he was doing anything shady with it. If the formal policy is to have people remove their watches when they enter the casino, that would be a major annoyance.

Smart watches are going to be very popular in the next year or 2. They'll have to come up with some kind of game plan that doesn't require patrons to "undress" to play at their tables.

No... no more than a smartphone is just a phone. Perhaps a stretch right now, but it will be far more accurate to say a smart watch is a wearable computer. Remember, a current iPhone has more computing power than the computers used in the first Apollo missions!!

Not commenting on how/if the casinos should address it, but would be wrong to ignore as "just a watch". My gut says they will learn to accept it, just like they have come to accept smartphones at the tables to a large degree. They used to make me step back from the table to text. Now they allow texting at the table.

I completely agree with what you. It's obviously much more then a "normal" watch. I just mean that at the end of the day, it's still a watch and being asked to remove your watch is an annoyance at best.

My only point was they're going to have to come up with something better then making people take off their watches when they sit down at the table. I do agree that they'll grow used to them and it will be a moot point at some time in the future. Especially as they grow in popularity.

And the restriction against my being able to videotape players while standing naked behind the dealer is just an annoyance as well. :wink2:

"No computers at the tables. Smart devices are computers. No exceptions."

Post that at every table and the problem will solve itself.

Thanks for this info. I am coming to PH Friday and I bought a smart watch and was planning on wearing it. I would have gotten really ticked if I was told to take it off when I got to the Pai Gow table. People using their smart phones can do the same stuff you do with a smart watch and they use them while at the table.

I don't see what the big deal is.

Remove your watch and put it in your pocket.

The main issue that casinos have with the Galaxy Gear watch is that it has a camera built into the strap. The image from the camera can be shown on the screen of the watch and it can also be wirelessly sent to a connected phone. This feature gives it a wide range of possibilities when it comes to cheating.

I thought all watches, clocks, windows and any daylight was already banned from all casinos.

I have a Smartwatch and wore it the whole time I was staying at the Monte Carlo over Christmas/New Years. One of the Pit crew came up to me and asked about my watch, said it was cool. Not sure MGM has issued a ban yet on them.
