Hi I'm going to vegas for the first time in March and I'm wanting to catch a good photo of a sunrise and sunset.

I'm happy to travel as I've hired a car for my stay but ideally I'd like the spot to be within a 2 hour drive.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Good question. My first thought is that for sunrise, drive over to Red Rock canyon. Its not far and you can face east from an elevated position. I have taken some excellent photos of the south end of the Strip from there in the past, but never first thing in the morning. I think it would be a good spot

This thread reminded me of one of my favorite vegas sunrise photos I took. Not the vantage point the OP is looking for, but nevertheless ....

I agree with the Red Rock Canyon suggestion. Here's a sunrise I shot.

Never been up to see a sunrise. Usually face down in my bed, passed out, with drool coming out of my mouth at that time.

Fligster, you were at the same spot Tony Soprano was in one of the episodes.
