    Quick upfront info:

    -2 guys, early 30s
    -Memorial Day Weekend
-Just need a place to stay
-Probably will be doing the gambling at mLife properties

I have never stayed at Harrah's, the only CET prop I have stayed at was PHo. My last few trips have been all mLife. I haven't gotten my spring offer yet, so I don't know what I'll be getting for mLife. If it is anything like Winter than it'll be a couple of nights at Luxor/Excal. That will be more than sufficient, as I have the FB game to supplement anything else.

Me and a buddy snagged a couple of cheap flights on the Delta fiasco a couple of weeks ago and will be out there Sat-Tues of Memorial Day weekend. Right now I have Harrah's at $210 total including resort fees and taxes for the 3 nights. I am thinking I should just book it and I'll be ok to cancel if a better offer comes along.

However, should I need to actually use it, what can the collective wisdom of VMB tell me? Clean? Nice? Dirty? Run down?

    Thanks all!

Harrah's will work fine for you. For a guys trip you don't need a fancy room. A comfortable place to sleep and shower that is right in the middle of it all!

Also you are right, it never hurts to book as long as you can cancel just in case something better pops up.

We stayed at Harrah's a couple years ago on a guys trip. We all thought it was just fine. I was actually sick as hell from Bronchitis and found the room to be very clean, comfortable and next to free. We liked that we could walk to Ellis Island for cheap gambling and drink/eats. We also liked that the food court outside Harrahs made for a short walk for cheap eats as well.

We found it to be just the place for a guys trip. Carnival court will be rocking that time of year!!

Sounds like a good offer, especially for Memorial Day weekend. Keep in mind most of the MLife properties are at the other end of the strip, except Mirage, so you'll have to do some walking, take the Monorail, or pay for cabs.

Harrah's rooms are OK. Nothing great, nothing terrible. If you're looking for "just a place to sleep" then I think you're fine.

Better than the Excalibur but the last time I stayed there was the last time. Ever. Room full of water damage which leads to mold. Found similar issues at Flamingo and Bally's. Have thermal images, use them in my lectures. I will never stay any of those properties again as it is lipstick on a pig. The room renovations don't fix the underlying structural defects.

Also had problems with hookers roaming the halls early morning.

You get what you get at CET properties.

If you think you will go to the pool at all, then check out The Flamingo.

You can still pay to get into the pool at the Flamingo but that might eat away the savings of Harrahs.

The Piano (at Harrah's) bar is quite fun later in the evening after the careoke is over. If you do go to the piano bar you can save money by walking back and forth between the piano bar and Casino Royale with a handful of $1 Michalobes or $2.50 Hienekins. The pinao bar doesn't care if you bring it in.

I went to Harrahs last march with a buddy and found the place more than suitable for our needs. If your looking for cleanliness then this might not be the place. It is also is one of the smokier (if thats a word) casinos on the strip. I also stayed at the luxor the year before and thought it was a little cleaner than harrahs. Harrahs location is much better though IMO. The sports book is right beside of carnival court which was very convenient for me. For two guys in their early 30s just looking for a decent place to sleep that was in a good location, it was great! I dont think my wife would like it though.....

I think Harrah's is overall fine, we've stayed there a couple of times on our last few trips and its got a pretty good location for lots going on around it...

However you did say you were planning to play at MLife casinos... the only MLife casino right there is Mirage and with the rest so much further down The Strip you should maybe be factoring in the time and costs of getting to those properties in to the overall price of the room: monorail, taxi and/or valet.

If that was the plan, planning mainly at MLife properties, then I would look at staying at the south end of The Strip at Luxor or Excalibur for cheap and then NYNY or Monte Carlo for the next step up.

Harrahs was our hotel for my bach party this past July. Simple, to the point and centrally located. No complaints at all.

Did MDW 2012 at Monte Carlo and had a blast at the pool there. If you get anything close to the price I would go MC over Harrahs then.

Did Aria MDW 2011 and hands down the best spot and a great pool. That would be my #1.

At $210 for 3 nights you could get an MGM property for the same price since that's where you want to gamble.

Also, don't ignore Hotwire or Priceline either.

Take the Deuce! 7 bucks for 24 hours. A great way to go up and down the strips for a whole lot less than the monorail and cabs.

Thanks for all of the replies!

Busyman, not true. The only one that even comes close is Excal based on what I have found both in searching and trying to use offers.

As for the worry of it being too far from mLife props, not really a concern. I'm used to walking in Vegas (any season). Hell my last trip I walked from Venetian to NYNY at 3am after a night of poker. Gave me a chance to smoke a cigar and enjoy the lights.

I think I will go ahead and book, and see if something else comes up.

TI and Mirage are right across the street, they're both mlife.

This is always the best deal in Vegas. The busses come quick and there's no tipping involved. For anyone with a budget, it's hard to beat the duece. The only downside is if the strip is overly crowded. Getting on the bus might be a challenge during certain times of the day.

Yeah I also missed that said including resort fees. How in the world did you get that?

If you have resort fees then you probably aren't comped and this is a weekend and a holiday one at that.

Resort fees alone are $60 which leaves.....$50 a night on Memorial Day weekend with no comp.

I'd take that....how'd you do it? I thought you got $210 before fees.

It's not hard to get a get a decent deal on memorial day this far out. The golden nugget allowed me to book on a heavy discount for example. I think that some of the properties code their holidays manually. Ballys gave me a memorial day rate of $46 for the fri/sat and $35 in food&bev comps on some deal that was posted to everyone by email.

Anyway, we like Harrahs. Rooms are decent, location is excellent, the tables can vary depending on the time of day (and if its a weekend). All in all I usually check Harrahs first on my TR account.
