We booked our Feb trip using points and now the airfare has gone down ~5,000+ points each, so I rebooked and the points went back into our accounts.

Do those points now have an expiration date, the same as when rebooking for cash tickets? Or, are points handled differently?

    Thanks,

As long as you have activity in your account within 24 months, those points won't expire.

Southwest has the best loyalty points program by far because of this. Any other airline charges you for any chance but sw just goes right back into your account if you find a cheaper fare up to the time you are leaving. you can book any flight and just keep checking during sale times to rebook for lower and never use the value of the points love it!

Yep... I'm sure the points are treated differently then having unused travel funds on account (which do expire in one-(1) year)... your points are good per above!
