Banger Brewery Grand Opening

I received this email today:

Banger Brewing’s grand opening will be Dec. 27th @8pm. Please come out and support Las Vegas’s newest brewery. We will have 8 beers on tap including our dry hopped pale ale, jalepeno hefe, watermelon wheat, and our high gravity IPA.

Great. I come home on the 26th.

 

I feared they'd never open. I'm sure they were 'opening soon' on my last visit to Vegas in October 2012.

Hopefully they'll make a success of things despite the Neonopolis location-of-doom.

 

I'm not an IPA connoisseur but my brother is and he claims the one at Four Queens from Chicago Brewing Co. is excellent. I don't know if they have at the casino bars, but they have it in the upstairs bar.

 

Joe, I stayed DT last April and kept meaning to go there and try it, but it just got forgotten about. Will definitely try it this March!! Thx

 

I agree, I always try to grab a beer and pizza when I am there around lunch time.

 

Any new brewpub is something to get excited about, I just love seeing those little sampler glasses all lined up waiting to be evaluated. Not a huge fan of fruity beers or some of the other mutations I’ve encountered (although some of the coffee and chocolate stouts are awesome) but it’s good to have an open mind. Anyway, I will be on Fremont next weekend so will report back if they open their doors for a sneak-peek prior to their official 12/27 opening.

 

I was in for a tour on Wednesday and took some pics, got to meet the partners, etc. Their official opening is the 27th at 8pm:

Sam, did you have an opportunity to sample any of the beer?

 

No, they were still setting up the equipment. Some kegs were already in the coolers behind the bar, ready to be tapped directly through the wall, but they hadn't installed the taps yet. More was in production, too.

"As defined by the Brewers Association, an American craft brewery is small, independent, and traditional.". I believe all of us home brewers have the dream of doing what these guys are doing! Looking forward, in particular, to trying the
IPA and brown beer.......and a stout if they have one! Good luck to the Banger Brewers!

 

My husband and I stopped by for the opening. It was crowed and lively. We ordered a flight for $6. I loved the IPA, liked the brown ale and didn't like the watermelon wheat or jalepeno wheat which falls in line with my tastes.

We only stayed long enough to drink the flights. I would likely go back and partake in a few IPAs when it was not so crowded.

I was on FSE this weekend and took a look in Banger Brewing. It was O.K. - pretty much what I expect to see in a micro/craft brewery. I did not sample the offerings.

The Beer

So i tried this place out last week, after just missing them in December.
First, im what most would consider a beer geek, so im well versed in craft beers.
The offerings were all solid, there was Session Blonde, good light, a beer for the masses, Sandia watermelon wheat, again light, refreshing on a hot Vegas afternoon, DTB, a brown ale, well done for the style, Simply Stout, which the name pegs it perfectly, a really good basic stout, Perfect Ten Pale Ale, which leaned a little malty for my taste, but a good beer, i just prefer a bit more hops in my pale ale's, Hops Anonymous IPA which was their first IPA, and again leaned a little to much to the malt side for my taste, again well crafted and good, more of a British style IPA.
Then what i consider the 2 stars of their lineup, the first a big surprise, because I dont love gimicky beers, or fruits and vegetables in my beers unless it's a belgian Lambick, but the El Heffe Jalapeno Wheat was very good. They use more then just Jalapeno's in the beer, a few variety's of peppers. It had a really good, almost a roasted pepper on the front end, and just a hint of pepper burn on the finish, was really delicious, and only the 2nd out of about 50 or more pepper beers ive actually thought was good, so good I ordered a pint, and turned on 2 other customers who thought they would not like it, to it.
And Last the A Hoppy Ending IPA. This one was much more to my liking then Hops Anonymous. More of a west coast style IPA, they used i believe 4 hops in this one. My brain is failing me as to which 4, i believe Citra was one of them. Really good, i ordered a pint of this one as well.

As for the place, Met one of the owners, Roberto, Nice guy, toured me threw the brewery. There is no food, although they have take out menu's and you can order/bring in what you would like. Im a fan of this model, as it eliminates the hassle of a kitchen. Overall i really liked this place and wish these guys well, they will be constantly rotating new beers in and out, they had a Kolsch in the tanks while i was there. Price point is between 5-7$ per pint which is pretty much on par with most micro breweries.

I think no matter what you like to drink, you will find something you will like.
So hope that helps with anyone who had questions about the beers.
