I have a load of Euros which I want to change to US$. Given I am from the UK, in theory it should be better for me to change them when I arrive in the US, as otherwise I would have to change them to pounds and then to $, losing out twice on the buy/sell spread. However, I recall the exchange rates at McCarran were terrible (as they usually are at airports). I believe you can exchange Euros to $ in the Casino cages, but I have no idea what the rates are like. Has anyone tried this?
Have you considered going to an AMEX Travel Office in London? They do currency exchanges and the rates aren't that bad.
I'd go to an ICE in London, they have the best exchange rates available. Usually find them at the mainline stations.
If you are going out of Heathrow they have ICE (which I have used many time while in UK) at Terminal 1, 2 and 3, if you are going out of Gatwick ICE is located in South Terminal, Railway Concourse. ICE seems to have the best rates in my opinion, this is who I use while in the UK.
thanks for replies. In the end I change the money at Thomas Global in London - got a good rate despite the double transfer Euro to pounds to dollars.
