HHAGG to open @ Rio

Just read on LVA that HHAGG is opening a location at the Rio. Good addition..... we enjoy HHAGG & sometimes don't feel like having the Rio buffet. This gives us another sharing option.

 

Any word on what Rio would be closing for HHAGG to move in?

 

Sau Paulo Cafe. That's the one thing I hate about Rio: They go out of the way to close the restaurants I really like. I am still pissed the closed Antonio's and never replaced it.

 

Just pure speculation, but my guess would be the Sao Paulo cafe. It's only open from 6am to 1pm, never seems very busy, and has a ton of floor space.

 

Yes, the article says Sao Paulo Café will remain open thru the 1st quarter of 2014 then close for HHAGG...

 

Had breakfast at Sau Paulo Cafe in October. They got both our orders wrong. HHAGG will be an improvement no doubt.

If I understand Ardee's challenge, I agree. Is HHAGG turning into the new Denny's, they are now all over the place.

 

I've never eaten at a HHAGG, I just figured they HAD to be better because Sau Paulo Cafe was pretty bad

 

The RIO used to be my home base in Las Vegas.
Then Harrah's took over and things rapidly went to shit.
Not only did they close Antonio's but they closed Fiore which was probably the best restaurant there.
At one time, when it was open 24 hours, Sao Paolo was actually good.
Then when they cut the hours,they cut the quality and service.
Sad to see how far this property has fallen from the pre Harrah's days.

Really? I was wondering if it was working out at M when I saw that they were promoting a smaller portion menu there.

 

I haven't seen an announcement, but I was told by my favourite M bartender that HHAGG was leaving at the end of the year. Appears to be true since HHAGG has recently disappeared from M's website.

 

HHAGG has been replaced by Jayde Fuzion, a restaurant run by the winner of Food Network's Restaurant Express. The gal who won has some great ideas and dishes, and I'm looking forward to trying this place in March.

Anything is better than HHAGG, which has nothing to recommend but "huge waste of food" portions.

 

Actually, Jayde Fuzion is in the space previously occupied by Marinelli's.
I was told there's a coffee shop going in to HHAGG location.
Probably something similar to the Red Cup Cafe which was there originally.

As a frequent M guest I'm glad to see HHAGG go. As you say, anything will be an improvement.

 

So where did Marinelli's go? They are still at M, according to the website. Just revamped into a "small-dish Italian" joint.

 

Marinelli's Pasta Bar is where Anthony's Oyster Bar used to be.

 

That's just a silly statement... certainly you're entitled not to like the place... and I know you're NOT alone, but they're not opening up new locations all over, because they suck. HHAGG certainly isn't for everyone, but IMHO they offer great food, a unique experience and is well worth visiting.

 

It seems that in Vegas you can count on a lot of restaurants opening and closing every year...and it seems you shouldn't be surprised if a place you loved years ago is no longer living up to your expectations.

As for HHAGG, well, mehh.

 

It just was a bad fit. I think the HHAGG concept is sound but it's an acquired taste. I thought the food was good but there are a lot of menu items that seem overwrought to the extent that I found myself looking for the safe bet on the menu. It also makes me wonder if M is chasing the same customer base it was after when it was opened or if they have modulated a bit.
